Please see my other listing also: Comfy, quiet rm wi-fi/A/C Trans Pkg...Persons traveling together but needing separate rooms may want to contact me for a deal, depending on length of stay. I might be able to do a bit better when both rooms are taken together.
I provide high-thread count, freshly ironed sheets and fluffy towels. Large closet. Short term. Brand new beautifully remodeled kitchen, with a coffee/tea/light breakfast counter, and garden, cable TV, and Hi-speed internet (wi-fi) are unlimited. Safe, convenient neighborhood, parking nearby, many transportation choices, but 20-30 minute walk to Center City. Near E P'Unk (Passyunk Ave) with all its shops and restaurants, a nice walk to Italian Market, Pat's & Geno's Steaks, Lupe's Carnita's Tacos. Many breakfast hotspots in area, but in good weather coffee and a bagel in my garden are the best to get you off on your day whether its a conference, business mtgs or just being a Philly tourist, you'll find the neighborhood and the city very visitor friendly. You'll have a key to come and go as you please. We're only a 15 minute cab ride from the airport, ten minutes to all the major stadiums, less than 30 minutes to the University of Pennsylvania, all the major hospitals, museums and haunts like Schmidts Piazza.
Hoping to hear from you :)

Guest access

Garden, Living room with cable tv, refrigerator to keep a few things, and coffee/beverage/light breakfast/snack nook. If I am there I try to have juice, fruit, coffee, bagels or coffee cake or the like as well as a few snacks like nuts, or cheese and crackers out in the evening. If we are having a conversation I may offer a beer, wine, iced tea or hot chocolate if you've just come in from the cold.

Interaction with guests

It depends on the guest and my schedule. Of course, it is nice to chat a bit and get to know each other. But if the guest has a busy schedule or seems the type who likes their privacy I try to be sensitive to that. But I have had so many very interesting guests and I suppose they find me so as well, that we often have the most amazing conversations and share a great deal of interests. Its fun for me to tell my guests about the city I love, Philadelphia, and to try to steer them to places I think they'd like.

The neighbourhood

We're in the hot, upandcoming East Passyunk Crossing with some of the best restaurants in the U.S.: Fond, Laurel, Noord, Will, Stateside, several of which are BYOBs and therefore reasonably priced given the high-quality of the fare. But there are also casual hipster eateries and bars -- in all 28 food establishments within a five block walk from the house.

Getting around

47M bus outside door takes you right up to CC hotels, historical sites, Convention ctr within 15 mins. or you can walk to Broad St (5 short blocks) and hop the subway and transfer to anywhere in the city from the City Hall concourse.

The host was gracious and upgraded my accommodations from the advertised "cozy" second bedroom to the other available bedroom prior to my arrival. I would have been uncomfortable & disappointed had she not done so. The original space was more a small office space with a sleeper sofa that did not appear comfortable. The upgrade provided a perfectly comfortable bedroom with a real bed, closet space & good lighting.

Merilyn was great about arrivals and departures - very organized, and she kindly accommodated my changing arrival times. She also gave me a ride to my Zipcar when I left! She's a fount of information about the area. The kitchen was being renovated when I was there, so I didn't get to enjoy her baking. The room is small (as you can see in the pictures) but has decent closet space and a large desk. Wifi was very reliable! I didn't find the sofa bed very comfortable, but I was there for almost a month - probably fine for shorter stays.

The room is really good. Very quiet during the night. I enjoyed talking to Merilyn and I am touched by Merilyn's experience insisting and chasing what she loves.

It was my first stay at airbnb. Merilyn was so nice and went to pick me up at the airport. During my stay for 3 days I felt very integrated in the life of Merylin – about her job as art & danced critic writer and talking about all other things in life. She showed me where to go to the bus and the room were as in the picture showed. The place is quiet and has a good distance to downtown with public bus (2.25 each ride – for 20 Min.). The Internet-Wifi is very good – and also TV and kitchen are good to use. I can recommend this place! Thank you very much, Merylin for having a good time at your place. Dolf from Switzerland

A writer/journalist (primarily as dance critic for the Philadelphia Inquirer, but many publications nationwide and online) I divide my time btw Philly and Phoenix where my husband teaches at ASU. Both homes are lovely, well-situated to downtown hubs, cultural and historical sites. When I'm not writing, I'm probably cooking, and as a former pastry chef, baking. There's a sign in my kitchen: Cookie Central. I love entertaining and checking out all the newest restaurants in Philly, walking all over town especially the Schuylkill Banks. I speak some Polish and some French. My life motto? I'm on it.
