Interaction with guests
I am always available for suggestions about the city and some friendly conversation when I am home.
I love the proximity to public transportation, the grocery store, restaurants, local pubs, and Wrigley Field. You can go for a nice walk around the neighborhood, or a bike ride/run on the lakeshore path just a 15 min walk away. A cab will get you downtown in 15 min and also real easy to get to by bus or train. The streets are clean and the neighborhood is one of the safest in the city.
Public transportation is very convenient. The 22 Clark bus will take you downtown in 20 min. Another option is taking the red line train downtown in the same amount of time. The bus stop is on the Corner of my block and the train stop is a 7 min walk away. The bus runs every 10-15 from early morning to late night. The train runs 24 hours a day every 6-20 min depending on the time of day.
Other things to note
The music scene in Chicago is BIG. This apartment is 1/2 block away from Smartbar, which is a world renowned club for playing Chicago House music. Guest Djs include Kaskade, Mark Farina, Derrick Carter, Frankie Knuckles, and many more. The Metro Concert Venue in Chicago is only 1/2 a block away as well. Musical guests include Postal Service, Smashing Pumpkins, Bone Thugs, Vic Mensa, 2 Chainz, among hundreds more.
If you're interested in live blues or jazz this apartment is a 10 min cab ride away from the Green Mill which famous Chicago gangster, Al Capone, frequented. Equally as far is Kingston Mines which is a landmark venue in the city for live blues music.
If you're into eating food late at night Big G's Pizza is the best slice of NY style pizza you can get in the city with over 50 kinds of pizza and they're open late. McDonald's and Taco Bell are a block away. There's a Mexican restaurant and a hot dog restaurant across the street. In the morning there's a popular diner called Salt n Pepper. Within a 1/4 mile you have 2 subways, DQ, Dunkin Donuts, and a second Mexican restaurant. Cozy Noodles is a delicious Thai restaurant, and most of the 30 bars in the neighborhood serve menu options that range from mediocre to very good bar food.
This accommodation is not meant to be used for partying. You are welcome to enjoy the back porch and some of the empty space in the fridge. If you need to shower that's not a problem. I don't mind if you're up late and loud in the living room or back porch. If you're in the room I request guests to be quiet after midnight. Otherwise I am all about people having fun and getting to know Chicago for everything it has to offer. I am a foodie and enjoy kicking back a few adult beverages every now and then so I have a wealth of knowledge for suggestions as far as places to go eat and or drink in the city.
I am from Highland Park, IL, a suburb 30 min north of the city. I own two pizza restaurants in the city, and majored in Elementary Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. I enjoy going to concerts, traveling, eating at new restaurants, going to the movies, and photography. My parents are Guatemalan and my siblings and I were raised in a bilingual home.
