This sunny 1 bedroom cottage has 180º views across False Bay to the mountains beyond. The cottage has a fully equipped separate kitchen and living space, with a double sofa bed. It is the perfect weekend getaway or family holiday base in Cape Town.

The space

This self-catering cottage is part of our residential property and is set in a fynbos garden overlooking breathtaking views of False Bay and beyond. It is the perfect base to explore the exciting adventures in the Cape, and comfortable and quiet enough to just kick back, read a book or have a daily swim from our wonderful beaches.

While we understand people think such a small town is only worth 1 night's stay, we really recommend that you stay 2 or many more. There is so much to do in Simon's Town and the surrounding area, that one night really does not do it justice.

Important notice: We charge an extra fee for additional adults over two. But do not charge an additional fee for children under 16. If you want to come with your children, please book the number of adults, and message us separately the number of children so that we can sort out the beds correctly.

Guest access

1 bedroom (one double bed)
A double sleeper couch in the lounge can accommodate 2 more guests.
1 bathroom (en-suite) with shower only
Open plan dining and living space with fully equipped kitchen
Outside terrace with braai/ BBQ facilities.
Beach towels provided.
A single fold bed can be set up should this be needed.
Please note that although the cottage can accommodate five (at a push a couple and 3 kids), it is not suited for groups of adults. We suggest a maximum of two adults. Children are more than welcome (and we do not charge extra for children under 16).

Interaction with guests

The cottage is entirely separate from the main house. We live on the property and will be more than happy to assist with any local or tourist suggestions, queries or recommendations.

Other things to note

Parking is available on the street or inside the driveway.

Being on a mountain, the cottage is up an incline. It is not entirely suitable for the elderly or people with physical challenges.

Our dogs are very friendly, but please let us know if you or a guest are worried about them. Because the dogs are so friendly and like to explore, please make sure that the gates are firmly shut before you walk or drive away. If the wind blows or a small pebble is in the way of the gate's track, this can cause the gate to stop mid-way and then the dogs will run out. Thank you for making sure that the gate closes.

You are welcome to use the patio umbrella. Please take it down and off its pedestal if the wind starts to come up. The umbrella is stored under the long bench in the kitchen.

There are fish in the pond. Let us know if you want to feed them - we are happy either way, we just don't want them to be under or over fed.

Perfectly located self contained apartment with incredible views over Simons town and the bay! The apartment was nice and homely and Isla was very welcoming. The apartment has everything you need and Isla left us some basics bits to settle us in! The dogs are so cute and friendly! Highly recommended this apartment! Look forward to going back again some time soon!

An idyllic location overlooking Simonstown and False Bay - seaviews from every aspect. Comfortable, well appointed, self-contained accommodation - truly home-from-home with your own front door key! Isla and Kevin, the perfect hosts, always ready with a cheery 'Hello' , recommendations for eateries, scenic routes and places of interest, not forgetting their generous regard for our well-being - Oh! mustn't forget the lovely dogs with their wagging tails always on-hand to welcome you home. A self-drive car is highly recommended - Cape Town with it's V & A Waterfront, Table Mountain and the several wine routes are all within easy reach. Don't miss Chapman's Peak Drive, in our opinion, the most stunning marine drive in the Western Cape. Eduard and I booked 36 nights with Isla and Kevin during January and February 2016 - the time to follow the swallows. We found it the perfect base for sampling the fabulous restaurants on the wine estates, exploring the different routes in and out of Cape Town and just to relax and spend a flawless 'summer'! Thank you Isla and Kevin.

Lovely welcoming host family, extremely helpful without being intrusive. Quiet neighbourhood. Cottage is adequately equipped and comfortable. Amazing view, easy walking distance to main attractions in Simonstown, beaches, and African penguin beach. Walking distance to the train station, for trains into Capetown and surrounding areas. Close driving to Cape point.

This place worked out perfect for our family to explore the Cape Peninsula and Simon's Town and Boulder's Beach. The road it's on runs parallel above the main Street of Simon's Town and is located across the street from a public stairway that connects to the main Street. It's about a 15 minute walk to Boulder's Beach. Or parking is easy on main Street and at Boulder's Beach, and it is a very quick drive to both. Accomodations are as described, very quaint beach house feel with spectacular views. Very clean and welcoming. Isla went above and beyond - providing a fruit basket upon arrival and having our kids' bed made up in Spiderman sheets. If you plan to park in the driveway, note that it is particularly steep and you will have to back out of it. Definitely recommend and would rent from again.

Communication from Isla was quick and helpful. We were not using a car and the offer to possibly pick us up in town was very appreciated even though we didn't need it in the end. This was so convenient to lovely shops , restaurants and of course the penguins! lovely spot.
