Murakami is the best host you'll ever have. Kind, thoughtful, and full of laughter. His home is 80 years old and has a lot of character -located beside rice fields and a bamboo forest! It's located a little ways away from Aso Station or other stores/restaurants so expect to use taxis to get around if you don't have a car. Murakami took the time to make dinner with us and it was awesome- highly recommended!! This place is worth a visit!

If you are looking to live a true experience outside of touristic paved tracks, this is for you. Yes, Legend of Otohime is an old, authentic house. It suffered from April 2016 earthquake (bathroom not operating). But it has the taste of legendary places and allows you to live an authentic traditional Japan stay. Murakami-san has kept his child spirit and he will treat you like the most important guest. I have enjoyed our discussions around the central fire. The non operating bathroom provided a good excuse to try onsens around.

We spent three nights at 阿蘇 乙姫物語 and we can attest that this trip was a true Japan in all its hospitality, beauty of the country, richeness of food, charm of an old typical house. The owner speaks English enough. It is definitively a place we recommend to discover a true Japan. Please, be prepared to varied, delicious and copious typical Japaneese meals twice a day (breakfeasts and dinners).

Murakami-san is a very friendly and patient host. He tries his best to serve his guest well and let the guest experience the traditions of Japanese cultural. We had a good talking while having dinner with his humor, it was fun and memorable. I will definitely go back to stay/visit him again. Highly recommand if you are looking to experience very traditional japanese lifestyle and get to know a new friend in Japan.

I got what I expected. This was a great experience for me. The house was fantastic and the host was great. Made me breakfast and dinner both nights. There are a couple things you should know though. The Master is a smoker. The house is quite open and airy, but I know it bothers some people. The house is old and damaged from the earthquake this past April. There a lot of bugs. If you are squeamish about this then this is not the place for you. Also there is no bath. It was damaged in the earthquake so you need to take a five minute drive to the hotspring to shower. There are toilets and running water otherwise The Master was very kind to me and was very good about advising me in what to do. The place can be difficult to find with gps. The house is down a narrow driveway between 2 houses. The house cannot be seen from the road as it is way far back Highly recommend to get a taste of old time Japan

Murakami-san was very welcoming and friendly, he came to the station and picked up our luggages while we where exploring Aso. His house is something you definitely want to see during your trip to Japan! And the delicious food he prepares has been so far the best meals we had, he is really talented and wants his guests to have everything they need. An unique experience we are glad we tried and we would definitely come back!

I appreciate your understanding and support for the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake.

I always thinking if I were you. I need think that I need help against you or not, during you are staying my house. I hope you can have a wonderful time ...
I would like to touch you with that in mind. that way I surely believe that you can continue your wonderful journey.
Breakfast is free. Rice is the rice that I raised in my rice field.
For dinner you need to choose whether you want to do externally or with my house. In the case of you choosing the hearth at my house, I will advise on how to cook using the hearth. I will guide the nearest supermarket ingredients, so please buy your favorite ingredients. My house is two to three kilometers from the nearest restaurant and convenience store. Nearby there is nothing. Japanese cuisine is one of traditional Japanese culture.
I will prepare rice, miso, seasoning, fuel etc. Taste the four seasons of Japan together and let's eat.

I am a traditional rice farmer in Kumamoto Aso. I have guests from Airb &b as a guest since the spring of 2016.

After graduating from university in Tokyo, I lived in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, Fukuoka, and I was doing another job. I returned seven years ago, I have been cultivating in my house for five years.
My house was built in 1937, It is 80 years ago. Previously it was a mid-sized farmer in this area.
Six years ago, it was reported as "Japanese landscape" of an old farmer located in local RKK-TV.

Because there is a vacant room, I registered an accommodation called "Legend of Princess Otohime" and it was approved. Immediately after I started ”airb&b” in 2016, I was influenced by the Kumamoto earthquake. We can not to use shower or bathtub yet. Due to the earthquake, the number of old houses in this area has declined.

I live on the north side of the crater, in the center of Kyushu.
Takachiho, Kurokawa Onsen and Yufuin Onsen are also useful.
Nagasaki, Oita, Fukuoka, and Kagoshima ... Of course it is the intersection of Kyushu.
Currently, in the case of JR which is the main transportation means, Kumamoto Higo Ohzu is good, but Higo Ohzu Aso can not pass. But you can come here. Please contact me for details.

Welcome tea (Maccha & Wagashi) will be awarded to the guest who arrived. Please touch Japanese culture.
I welcome the people of LGBT and Halal food is okay!
When staying for 3 nights or more, we have valuable plans. Please notify me.

I welcome people interested in Japan. For example, Japanese seasonal food, flora and fauna, life, kimono, residence, event, festival, origami, etc ...

Digging bamboo in spring, hunting fireflies in early summer, viewing autumn leaves, depending on weather conditions in Aso enjoying various seasons, you can see the sea of clouds.
Girls 'dolls are displayed from February to March, and from April to May they display boys' decorations in the room "Sakura". Hina's doll is a huge culmination of traditional Japanese art and crafts.
However, here is a mountainous area located at an altitude of about 500 meters. This is nature. In the summer there are mosquitoes and insects. So please refrain from those who do not like it.
I want to see your smiles.
