THE GARDEN AND DECKS:
We particularly love the outdoor space. The chalet is very secluded and surrounded by fields. No part of The Chalet is overlooked by anybody. It is set in a corner of our (large!) garden, but is completely private from us and has its own large garden (some flat, some sloped), 2 decks for morning and afternoon sun, an organic herb garden and a rotary washing line. There is outdoor seating for 6 as well as an outdoor dining area and a BBQ. It is also wonderful for soaking up the sun, or for evening drinks after a hard day at the beach, surfing, or exploring the gorgeous Devon countryside!
There are bird nesting boxes in the garden, and at appropriate times of the year, there is a bird feeding station so you can watch them as you have your morning cup of coffee.
There is also a rustic seating area made from tree stumps at the top of the garden providing great views. The Devon Wildlife Trust and Bee Conservation Trust are advising us on how best to create and maintain this area for improved wildlife habitat. It's a great place to sit and admire the views towards the sea, and up and down beautiful Croyde Valley.
