This apartment is on the border of Temescal and Lower Rockridge. Walkscore of 91, 1 Block to Kingfish Pub, 2 Blocks to Bakesale Betty's, Cholita Linda, Dona Tomas, Pizzaiolo, and all of Temescal good eats. Biker's Paradise score of 95, means you can bike to the Rockridge Bart in 6 minutes or walk in 15! 11 miles to San Francisco = 20-30 minute drive or public transportation!
A 1 bedroom, 1 bath, 700 SF, on the top floor of the building (2 stories, about 25 steps up to apartment, no elevator/lift). There is a comfortable bedroom with a real queen bed, some dressers and a small but functional desk area. The closets are quirky and are actually located in the living room. The building is old so walls are a bit thin and you can hear cars outside, neighbors, and also smell cooking and incense lighting from time to time. We have one heater and it's an old furnace heater located in the living room only. (The bedroom is right next to the living room.) There is no central heat or air conditioning. We have extra blankets if you get cold. We also have a ceramic wall heater in the bedroom for those extra cold nights in the Bay Area (which are kinda rare), but we want you to be comfortable!
Questions about safety: Lots of guests inquire about SAFETY. Because it's a subjective feeling and comfort levels vary greatly from person to person, we'd recommend reading our reviews to see if it would be a good fit for you/your family.
Oakland is an urban and diverse city. The Temescal/Lower Rockridge District is comprised of diverse working class families and young professionals. We are in an urban city so we always recommend using city-street smarts and being aware of your surroundings.
Access by combination lock box. The unit is on the 2nd floor in the back of the building. It is a top unit so no one is above you and there are no shared walls. Laundromat (2 blocks away), or wash and fold are both nearby.
Loss of keys will require the change all sets of locks and a $250 fee will be applied. Lock out fee to be let into the apartment is $100.

The apartment is adjacent to a busy street so expect some city, urban noise, but really if you're okay with white noise, that's what it is.

My name is Jennifer and I'm an Oakland native. If you're curious about all the comings and goings of Oakland and San Francisco, I would be happy to guide you in your desired direction of interests. I don't consider myself a foodie, but I love to eat - lots of different types of food. From random trucks, shacks in what some would say are dodgy neighborhoods, someone's grandmother's kitchen, to places where I have to be slightly presentable. I love being able to share what I love and know about the city I grew up in. Having me as a host means that you have some of the comforts of a home and some!
