Where you’ll be

Cape Town, Western Cape, South Africa

Scarborough is a wonderfully peaceful village with all the basic amenities. There is a local bakery that bakes fresh bread daily; a small restaurant The Hub that offers delicious, simple food, coffees, ice-cream and sells a few basic pantry items. Also over peak seasons they host a veggie market on Saturday mornings. There is a corner store that stocks the basics (milk, matches and the like). More shops & restaurants can be found in Kommetjie (15min drive) or in Simon's Town (15min drive). The close proximity to Cape Point Main Gate (10min drive) and to Simon's Town / Kalk Bay means that Scarborough is a great place from where to explore the Southern Peninsula. The beaches in the area vary greatly - so many different options to discover: from Long Beach at Kommetjie which is great for surfing; to Misty Cliffs & Witsands well known kite-surfing hot spots with Scarborough offering great rock pools & muselling (license required) with a river mouth which is great for kids. There are also known hiking routes in the Red Hill reserve behind Scarborough including the route up to the Kleinplaas Dam.

I am a busy working mum; living in Cape Town with my husband and two sons. I work in e-commerce and just love escaping to Scarborough for some R&R in nature. Even just a weekend leaves me feeling relaxed! My interests include reading, cooking and spending time outdoors with the family. My parents, Churton & Libby, have semi-retired to the village and are available as co-hosts.
