We offer a unique stay in a traditional Romany caravan furnished with some mod cons to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The caravan has electric stove, lights, television,DVD player and tea making facilities. There is a seperate bathroom with towels, robes and toiletries supplied. There is also a day cabin overlooking the meadow and woodland with a fine array of wildlife to be seen.Enjoy a romantic escape in a peaceful location but close to all amenities with Cornwall's famed coastline, surfing beaches and coastal footpath less than 2 miles away .Half a mile away is the historic Stannery village of Stratton with 2 pubs and a village store. Genuine Cornish pasties are available at the farm shop ,also about half a mile away ,and of course in Bude itself which ,while still retaining the charm of an oldfashioned seaside town ,has shops, restaurants, banks and pubs.We would highly recommend a visit to the nearby picturesque fishing villages of Boscastle and Clovelly.Or for those who may like to venture a little further afield there are the worldwide famed restaurants of Jamie Oliver's Fifteen at Newquay and Rick Stein's fish restaurant at Padstow. These are both within easy driving distance ,as is the The Eden Project and Heligan Gardens, two further highlights of this beautiful part of the world.
These are strictly no smoking premises. Although there are no cooking facilities, breakfast is provided and you can choose to take this in a hamper to enjoy at your leisure, either alfresco or in the cabin where you will find tea and toast making facilities, or a full English breakfast in the conservatory at the main house. You are asked to check in from 3.00pm on arrival and checkout by 10.30am on day of departure..
Liz and her husband gave us a very kind and hospitable welcome (and even helped us when we got a little lost). Some great detail on where to go in the area over a lovely hamper breakfast. We were also able to sample the cooked breakfast option the following day which was just as good.
The caravan was very well equipped and provided everything you should need, including heating. The only note would be if you are over 6 foot tall, just be aware the bed will require you to sleep at and angle. I don't think Cornwall was made for tall people.
The added bonus of the stay was the additional cabin and bathroom which you have all to yourself. The cabin has a great view of the backyard and the local wildlife.
The area is very close to Bude, and had some nice areas to eat and drink. The recommended restaurant was shut for renovations but we ended up in Tiandi, an Asian fusion place, which was some of the best we have had.
What a lovely weekend away in the caravan. Really impressed with how much you can fit in such a small space and also how warm it was. Beautiful little space with fantastic sunmerhouse. Hamper breakfast was a real treat, everything you could want. Friendly hosts who gave us some good local tips on where to eat. Would love to come and stay again, thank you, Michelle and Becky.
Just returned after a lovely couple of days staying in this beautiful Romany Caravan. It was really warm and cosy with every little detail so well thought out, we had everything that we could ask for, even down to dressing gowns for venturing to the toilet at night and a little tin filled with biscuits to go with our cups of tea! The summerhouse and bathroom were also lovely, lots of nice homely touches and the warmest shower I think I've ever had! Liz and Jan were the perfect hosts, they were really welcoming and helpful recommending places for us to go. The breakfasts were really special, we had a cooked breakfast one morning and a continental the next. Both were delicious (Jan made the BEST scrambled eggs!) thank you both for everything, we will be back again I'm sure!
I booked this trip for my parents, and they absolutely loved it! They said the attention to detail in the caravan was amazing! They are planning on going back as soon as possible.
Thank you so much
Had a great time, the caravan was lovely and the breakfast hamper was such a treat!
Just returned from the perfect getaway to North Cornwall. The accommodation was easy to find and we arrived to a warm welcome from Jan and Liz. The Romany caravan was lovely, bigger than we had expected and warm despite the rainy weather! With breakfast delivered to the outhouse each morning and the beach a five minute drive away there's not a whole lot to complain about! I would highly recommend the Romany Caravan!
We had a lovely weekend in Liz's beutiful caravan. Although "just" a caravan the accommodation had everything one could wish for - it was comfortable, beautifully furnished and very well equiped, and the accompany huts houses a small sitting room and place to have a brekfast and the essential hot showers etc.
Liz was wonderfully welcoming, and helped with advice on local eating places and sites to visit. recommended!
