We offer a unique stay in a traditional Romany caravan furnished with some mod cons to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The caravan has electric stove, lights, television,DVD player and tea making facilities. There is a seperate bathroom with towels, robes and toiletries supplied. There is also a day cabin overlooking the meadow and woodland with a fine array of wildlife to be seen.Enjoy a romantic escape in a peaceful location but close to all amenities with Cornwall's famed coastline, surfing beaches and coastal footpath less than 2 miles away .Half a mile away is the historic Stannery village of Stratton with 2 pubs and a village store. Genuine Cornish pasties are available at the farm shop ,also about half a mile away ,and of course in Bude itself which ,while still retaining the charm of an oldfashioned seaside town ,has shops, restaurants, banks and pubs.We would highly recommend a visit to the nearby picturesque fishing villages of Boscastle and Clovelly.Or for those who may like to venture a little further afield there are the worldwide famed restaurants of Jamie Oliver's Fifteen at Newquay and Rick Stein's fish restaurant at Padstow. These are both within easy driving distance ,as is the The Eden Project and Heligan Gardens, two further highlights of this beautiful part of the world.
The caravan is situated in 5 acres of grounds which the guests have complete access to. Outside the caravan there is a table and chairs and there are also loungers available for the guests to use.
Interaction with Guests
We are living on the premises so we are available to advise the guests on places to eat, walk, visit etc. We like to be here to greet our guests on arrival and make ourselves available if they have any queries.
These are strictly no smoking premises. Although there are no cooking facilities, breakfast is provided and you can choose to take this in a hamper to enjoy at your leisure, either alfresco or in the cabin where you will find tea and toast making facilities, or a full English breakfast in the conservatory at the main house. You are asked to check in from 3.00pm on arrival and checkout by 10.30am on day of departure..
lovely place in the countryside, surrounded by a wonderful garden. comfortable and clean. we really enjoyed out short stay here. the "livingroom" is equipped with lots of books, so you can hang around there, Reading a book, enjoying a coffee and the wonderful garden. Liz and Ian are lovely hosts who really take care of their guests and make everything up for you, even reserving a table at the local pub (which is a blast, too!) for dinner. breakfast was amazing. Thanks again, Liz an Ian, we will definitely come back!
Such a lovely weekend! Liz and Jan were so friendly, gave us information of where to go and what's around, the camper was so cosy, in such a beautiful place, breakfast was fit for a king, the cooked and the cold! Thankyou very much, hopefully meet again! Keli & Tom x
We had an amazing time, such a beautiful place and lovely hosts. Even the gale force weather couldn't dampen our experience!
What a fantastic night away.......truly relaxing experience from start to finish. Jan met us on arrival and shown us around, once we seen the summer house we decided to cancel our meal out and eat in instead, making the most of our time there. We both found it extremely clean, comfortable and relaxing. The view of the meadow is great! The caravan was very cosy and warm and the bed was comfy. We had a hamper breakfast for the morning which had a great selection of food, breakfast fit for a king!! Liz was lovely and very hospitable! We will most definitely be returning for a weekend soon. Highly recommend x
We stayed only for one night, Liz met us on arrival and gave us a little tour. We were also welcomed by Jan, they are both so friendly and laid back. The gypsy caravan is gorgeous, true to the photos and with a great view. We slept really well, no noise at all. It rained on the sunday morning but it didnt matter as we chilled out in the summer house with the generous and tasty hamper...enough for breakfast and lunch!! Everything is spotless and homely. We would have preferred to have another night to soak it all up. It is like a little retreat...looking forward to returning! Thank you Liz and Jan!
What a wonderful weekend in Liz's gypsy caravan. Such a unique stay! Beautiful attention to detail, comfortable bed, surprisingly warm for February in the caravan. I will definitely return in the summer to sit in the summerhouse and look out at the meadow. I wish I had more time to listen to more of Liz's travel tales whilst having our cooked breakfast in their beautiful home (amazing bespoke home and all made from reclaimed materials by Jan).
I absolutely recommend this to courting couples, young or old. Take a short bike ride into Bude, have a Cornish ale at the local pub, retire in the caravan in the early evening- although there is limited seating unless you're 3"2' tall, so the comfy bed had to suffice for me and my partner. No complaints there though. It was pure fun!
Liz and her husband gave us a very kind and hospitable welcome (and even helped us when we got a little lost). Some great detail on where to go in the area over a lovely hamper breakfast. We were also able to sample the cooked breakfast option the following day which was just as good.
The caravan was very well equipped and provided everything you should need, including heating. The only note would be if you are over 6 foot tall, just be aware the bed will require you to sleep at and angle. I don't think Cornwall was made for tall people.
The added bonus of the stay was the additional cabin and bathroom which you have all to yourself. The cabin has a great view of the backyard and the local wildlife.
The area is very close to Bude, and had some nice areas to eat and drink. The recommended restaurant was shut for renovations but we ended up in Tiandi, an Asian fusion place, which was some of the best we have had.
