The bungalows at Utopia are in a lovely setting with unparalleled views. The resort is quite nice generally and made extremely nice by the staff in reception who are very friendly and helpful. Overall I think this is a good experience if you really want to get away from it all.
There are a few issues that travellers should be aware of. First, the location is beautiful but very remote and doesn't have much in the way of transportation options (unless you want to rent a scooter, which we didn't). The hotel runs a pick up service and drops to 3 locations daily, which is really nice if you want to stay local. Otherwise be prepared to spend on taxis.
Second, there are some issues with the description of the property which aren't quite right. The listing showed a property for 2 people, with 5 rooms, 4 baths, etc. Each bungalow is really 2 rooms, the main living/ bedroom and the bathroom/ open shower room. Each also has a nice balcony with a terrific view. It is laid out duplex style. So the information isn't quite right for the individual bungalows which might lead to false expectations. With a lottle thought and work these bungakows could be stunning though. There is also quite a lot of variability in the finish of each bungalow. The first we checked into had twin beds and looked quite unfinished generally, whereas the second had a nice kind bed and overall better decorative finish. I would say on average this is a 3 star property, but 4 star with the staff and pool.
As a resort it could live up to its name more with a bit more time given to finishing the construction, which is not extensive, but leaves the place looking incomplete. The restaurant onsite is quite basic and food doesn't compare well with what is available nearby in Chaloklam.
We enjoyed our stay and think it was reasonably priced but perhaps the description doesn't completely fit the reality- especially if you are naive to Thailand and Koh Pha-Ngan.
