Well, it's difficult to rate this place. Truth be told, i can only be positive thanks to ita location. Domt guide yourself for the pictures, it doesnt not have at all the sunlight they show. Its dark, no view. But the worst part: i read on other comments that it had a bad smell. Well... its still there, very strong. Comes out of the bathroom, and you can take it out. Also some of the dishes werent clean enough. We didnt see luca. We did call him 20 minutes before arriving so he could send someone. Dont mind doing it, you will have to call him again on the door, and wait 20 Minutes more. My suggestion, if you find a similar location, don't go here. Thanks

Response from Luca:
Dear Gustavo, I sincerely do my best for all my guests to enjoy the apartment, but understand that everybody has his/her expectations and am sorry the apartment didn’t meet yours. I apologize if you felt to be kept waiting longer than you should be and found "some dishes" "not clean enough". A pipe could generate an odour particularly when a space has been closed and not used for some time and I will see to it that this will not happen in my apartment though I am perplexed at your expression "very strong bad smell". I appreciate even a critical review as it can help to improve the situation of the apartment. I, however, feel a need to react when I see the comment like "don't go here". You say it has “no view”. Well, the apartment is faced on a characteristic side street of old Florence and has a street view, which according to me, is far from unpleasant. So I don’t understand the necessity to make a particular comment on this unless a spectacular view had been promised, which I never did. The apartment is not bright and sunny as those in southern Spain, but with its big windows both in the living space and the bedroom, it has a normal light for a historical apartment in Florence. I must say that it definitely does not deserve a comment like “don’t go here”. It is a nice, charming and very respectable apartment.

Great location! Close to everything! Nico gave us the best trip advices, and helped us found a better Florence. Highly recommended to families and couples.

The location of this apartment was great! The building was grand and beautiful. We didn't mind walking the flights of stairs with our luggage on the way down, but the elevator was great for luggage on the way up. We walked to the apartment from the train station because it was raining and there were no taxis available at the station. It took about 20 minutes and was actually a very nice walk, but because we ended-up walking, were arrived 15 minutes past 8:00pm so we were charged an additional 10euro. We were greeted by Nico who was wonderful! He provided some fantastic recommendations for eating, drinking, sunset viewing, markets, gelato and coffee. We loved all the spots we tried. The apartment worked out well for our family of 4 - everyone had a bed which was great. We basically slept and showered there so I can't speak to the kitchen amenities, stove etc., but the A/C worked well. The shower water pressure was weak but this was typical during our travels in Italy. Two cautions: there was an odor in the apartment we couldn't pinpoint. It wasn't so awful that we couldn't stay, but it was very apparent. Also, communication with Luca was ok. Our hunch is that he rents out multiple apartments and sends Nico to meet with guests so our only interaction with Luca was a confirmation email upon booking and a brief phone call to Luca from the train station to let him know we arrived and were on our way to the apartment at which time he said he'd send someone to meet us. Compared to our previous Airbnb host, dealing with Luca was very sterile and business-like. Not bad, just not great. But again, can't say enough great things about Nico - thank you, Nico!!

Nice and cosy apartment. Even though it is in the city centre, it is really quiet. Sights, shops and supermarket can be reached easily!

Great location for our trip to Florence for 4 days. Cool, old building - had to go through 4 locked doors to get to the apartment! Like a fortress - added to the fun. We walked to all the main sites. Grocery store nor far away. Great to have the washing machine (note: check that the water valve is turned on). The AC was necessary for July! No issues. Would reco this apartment.

Upon arrival in Florence we were told that the air conditioning in our apartment was broken. We were offered a discount or a nicer apartment right by the Ponte Vecchio. Lucca was very accommodating!

Highly recommended! An excellent stay in a beautiful apartment. Well above average for Italian apartment stays. Perfect central location right by the Bargello, only three minutes' walk from the Palazzo Vecchio and Uffizi. Comfortable, well-equipped, lovely; I would definitely come again. The bedroom was quiet, the bed extremely comfortable, the kitchen well-equipped and functional, great sofa too. The loft is lovely, airy and private, and the bed up there is comfortable too, with its own air conditioner blowing right on the bed to keep you comfortable on a hot night. All the utilities worked perfectly, including the two excellent new air conditioners, though the space was so comfortable and well-ventilated that we hardly used them. Everything in the bathroom worked well, and the shower water took a little while to heat up, but not as long as many Italian showers. Florence is infamous for its mosquitoes and most apartments are full of them in summer, but this one was completely mosquito-free. The host was extremely helpful and responsive to all our questions and requests. My only warning is that there are a few awkward steps to reach the unit. There is an elevator which goes part of the way--taking you from the top of the first landing up to the third floor--but you still have to go up one full flight of stairs, then take the elevator, then when you get out of the elevator you have to go up three steps, down a hall, and down again six more steps to reach the level where the apartment is. This sort of awkward layout is common in beautiful old Italian buildings which have been restructured inside to add elevators centuries after they were built, but it would be a challenge for anyone with severe mobility concerns, and means that hauling a big suit case in at the beginning was a bit of a job. But it's still only one full flight and a few extra little steps, not flights and flights like many Italian apartments, and the elevator does most of work of getting you up to the delightfully-cool top floor. Very highly recommended. I will certainly ask to stay here again!
