This large 2200 sq ft home is roomy with plenty of space for everyone. (Read the reviews!) The location is at the center for getting in and around Portland. In a cozy neighborhood with great neighbors, this is an ideal 'home base' for your visit!
Come stay at our charming, completely remodeled, spacious cottage in an adorable neighborhood of Portland. This is a home away from home! Everything is brand new as the house was redone from the studs up. The neighborhood is 14 minutes from downtown Portland, the Portland Zoo, Japanese and Rose Gardens, a few blocks from Washington Square Mall and the Red Eagle Golf Course, one exit from Lake Oswego. Being only 6 blocks from I-5 makes it extremely convenient for any activity that brings you to Oregon: our world renowned wine country, skiing at Mt. Hood, a day at the coast, an Oregon Duck game in Eugene, cycling or business. Central downtown Portland is 14 minutes away by car. We have owned homes in every quadrant of Portland and our favorite is SW! You will have the entire home to live in during your stay. The home is comfortable with 5 bedrooms, 3 full baths on a 1/2 acre with beautiful trees and a large deck. 2 of the bedrooms are upstairs and 3 downstairs. All 3 baths have shower and tub are stocked with soap, and lotion. All of the linens are new and there are plenty of blankets and pillows and cozy comforters. Upstairs comfortably sleeps 4 and downstairs 7. All rooms have true mattresses, there are no futons. This is a very family friendly home as the downstairs offers a spacious living/ rec room and there's lots of yard to play in and explore. (Please note - - - due to insurance restrictions we absolutely do not allow events! Maximum guests, day or night, is 12 and must be listed on the guest list. Many people believe that if they rent this great, large home that they can throw an event but we do not allow events and we do live in the neighborhood! There is a fantastic meeting place for groups 1 mile away in Guidebook. If you choose to cook you have a well utensiled gourmet kitchen including everything you need from baking to creating a group dinner. A phenomenal grocery store is walking distance 4 blocks away for any food items you might need. There are lots of local pubs and eateries within a mile of the house and a guide to Portland's central restaurants is provided.
Kara and I are avid cyclists and can provide referrals to bike rental shops and great cycling destinations. We are not on site but close by if you need us. We love this house and our city and are excited to share both with you. Kara has decorated the house with treasures for all to enjoy. There are many original pieces of art, vintage pieces and charming antiques but no lack of a modern feel.
Come and enjoy!
Note: The main floor can be accessed without stairs. This is a no pets, no shoes and non smoking home.
Please read our reviews! 95% 5 stars and counting! "The house was fabulous! it's in perfect condition, tastefully decorated, and clean as an operating room! It was well-stocked with all of the items that we needed - and a store was nearby for anything else. This house was a perfect place for multiple families to rendezvous for an event - the open floor plan lends itself to casual mixing. Next time we'll try out the barbecue :). The location was perfect for us - midway between Portland and our friends further south. With quick access to I5, we didn't have any problem getting out to see the sights in the Portland area. By the way - go see Mt Hood - awesome! If you have a group going to Portland - this is place to be."
"We rented this home for our annual Mother/Daughter shopping trip getaway. We have been doing this getaway for over 20 years and we must say, this is one great home. The cleanliness superseded any home or hotel we have stayed in. The accommodations were great with a fully furnished kitchen. Thank you letting us stay there and we are looking forward to our stay next year."
The entire house is yours to live in! - All we ask is pretend you are staying with a relative (that you love)! If you are staying longer than a weekend, you can access the washer and dryer at a reasonable $3/load.
Interaction with guests
Part of being an AirBNB host is getting to meet so many great people! I may not greet you on your arrival but certainly won't miss the opportunity to welcome you during your stay!
Other things to note
Per County regulations we send a roster to list all guests that will be at the home. The person making the reservation must be someone staying during the visit. The front door is equipped with a RING security doorbell and a smart lock with your own specific code during your visit.
NO smoking inside or out. We request you remove your shoes at the door as it is a shoe free home and is brand new. As so many guests have animal allergies we do not allow pets. The pillows are hypoallergenic and there are mattress protectors. We have down alternative comforters available. This is a nice neighborhood and I respect the neighbors; no parties. Quiet hours begin at 9 pm. (ie: Bachelor parties -codename: Guy's Weekend need to look elsewhere) The city rules mandate a roster of everyone staying in the home.
There is an exterior RING doorbell/camera installed.

We are hoping to share our love of the Northwest and make some new friends by opening our Oak Street home. We purchased the home for Kara's mother but cold feet have kept Mom in California for now. It has been remodeled from the studs out and is perfect for a romantic getaway or a family road trip. I grew up in the area and Kara emigrated from California in the 90s. We live in SW Portland close by and our office is not too far off in Lake Oswego. Kara is a Family Medicine doctor in private practice and I help run her very busy clinic. She has been practicing in the community for over 17 years and I have been a mortgage banker for 18 years. I continue to do mortgages for longtime clients, family and friends. We have 2 boys (Go Yale and OSU!), cats, chickens and fish. We race bicycles, cross train in any way we can including kayaking, skiing, riking (a combo run/hike sport we created because hiking was just too slow much to the chagrin of our kids!). Kara is a photographer and also paints, makes jewelry and can't wait to get a pottery wheel someday. She supports local artists any way she can and is an avid collector of modern and vintage artwork. I am a woodworker and burgeoning chef. Kara recently sent me to a week of cooking boot camp at one of our local cooking schools and now there's no looking back. She really just wants me barefoot in the kitchen. We are avid herb and vegetable gardeners, love food, great wine, music and always look forward to helping guests with restaurant selections. We know the region well and have our favorite excursions and are available for guidance!
We have used airbnb and other rental web sites extensively for our travels in the US and all over Europe and hope our experiences help make yours a wonderful one! We are excited to share this lovely home with you! James
