A quiet residential neighborhood, on the Au Sable River, boasting the best views of Lake Huron in the Bend. Opposite the Grand Bend Yacht Club and the public boat launch, just 5 homes off Lake Huron. Sit back, watch the boat activity, head into town or stroll the beach. Leave your car behind in gated off street parking. Private entrances, deck, and bbq. Lounging patio facing lake with a fire pit for watching the sunsets on the water. All in all, the perfect holiday spot.

The space

Approximately 1000 sq ft, this river level suite provides private, gated parking (no on street parking passes required) and a private entrance in a garden setting. Two bedrooms, one bath apartment with linens. A kitchenette contains an apartment sized refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, kettle, dishes, cutlery, and cooking items. There is an open space for dining and lounging with a fireplace and Netflix. A private wrap around private deck with a bbq, and use of the patio and docking areas for relaxing are included. The apartment is perfect for two adults and two children or for four adults. Exterior doors have additional child safety locks. Clean, clean, clean.
Because Grand Bend is such a small town, the wifi networks can be jammed on some days, especially holidays, streaming is fine but is not conducive to activities like gaming. (Note: Garden pictures were taken during summer months. Blooms are seasonal.)

Guest access

The lower level apartment is a unit on it’s own with two private entrances. Great room, kitchenette, BBQ, 2BR, bathroom with shower. We can provide beach towels, mats and life vests if necessary. Small appliances not included in the unit, such as blenders are also available on request. Unfortunately, the apartment is not wheelchair accessible.
We have a Pack 'n Play, if needed.
Being on the river, water safety equipment is at hand. Of course, there is no substitute for watchful parents if you have young children.

Interaction with guests

We are pleased to share our knowledge of the area and things to do around town on request. We are available as needed. It is our home, and we are generally available during the day. We can also be reached by text.

Other things to note

Tucked away in the quiet residential neighborhood of Gibbs Park, this property is on the Au Sable River, directly opposite the Grand Bend Yacht Club and the public boat launch. Take in the sail boats heading out to race or just enjoy the sweeping view of Lake Huron. Unwind in peace just one block away from all the activities, dining and shopping on Main Street or stroll to Lake Huron’s premiere beaches. As one guest cited, "Quiet, but just steps away from whatever chaos your heart desires." Spa facilities and golf at the Oakwood Resort are a five minutes’ drive. Dockage is available at competitive rates.

This is our home, so we ask that you respect it as your own. While there are areas of The Bend that can be raucous with partiers, the village has actively stepped up efforts to make the town more family friendly. We are in the quietest neighborhood. Local bi-laws require no loud music or activities after 9pm. While there are occasional disruptions, please note the citation can carry a fine of $500, and will not be the responsibility of the homeowners. This location is most suited to mature guests and families.

My home is privately owned; the owners are not responsible for any accidents, injuries or illness that occurs while on the premises or its facilities.
The Homeowners are not responsible for the loss of personal belongings or valuables of the guest. By accepting this reservation, it is agreed that all guests are expressly assuming the risk of any harm arising from their use of the premises or others whom they invite to use the premise.

For liability reasons, guests may not bring any visitors or any others to our home at any time, for any length of time. Only those individuals who are registered guests may enter the premises. The space accommodates 4 comfortably due to the septic system.

WATER and SEPTIC: The house is on a special waste pumping system. The system is very effective; however, it will clog up if improper material is flushed. DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. No feminine/baby hygiene products should be flushed at anytime. If it is found that these products have been flushed and clog the system, or any other damage to the septic system or property happens during your stay you could be liable for damages of up to $25,000. Likewise, we ask that you rinse sandy beach items outdoors, since the sand settles in the pipes and cannot be easily removed.

Absolutely no smoking inside the premises. Although we love animals, we are unable to have pets in our home. No additional overnight guests not listed and approved at time of reservation are welcome.

We strive to make your stay comfortable. Occasionally, during heat waves, the air conditioning can be too cool for our guests comfort. Please advise so we can correct any problems. If you wish to use the indoor fireplace, we will start it for you to be certain the blowers and venting are in the correct position.

Weekend stays require a Friday and Saturday night. Weekly rentals run from Sunday to Sunday.

We had the most amazing time at Grand Bend. If anything, the pictures do not actually do it justice. The hosts, the location, the facilities and the outlook were all fantastic and I would recommend this as a beautiful place to stay. Thank you

The photos of this beautiful spot, while wonderful, really cannot do it justice. Having my morning cup of coffee watching the harbour come to life and the differing appearance of the river and Lake Huron each day was truly a gift. Equally, watching the sunset every night as we ate our supper or simply enjoyed a drink was all the relaxation we needed! Grand Bend itself is a bustling spot but the location of Lorraine's place is perfect if you don't want to be in the centre of things but just want a short walk to the restaurants and main beach. We loved Pinery Provincial Park enjoying both the beach, cycle and canoe hire there over multiple days. Lorraine couldn't have been kinder both in terms of communication before our visit and then checking in regularly but unobtrusively during our stay. We HIGHLY recommend this AirBnB and look forward to our next visit.

This home is just as described and even more beautiful than the pictures. The views and sunsets were spectacular. Location couldn't be any better with just a 5 min walk to Grand Bend beach and the main strip. Yet you can quickly retreat to your beautiful and quiet oasis on the river. Lorraine and Michale were great hosts. We were greeted with a big bowl of fruit, yogurts, lots of bottled water and even a zucchini from Lorraine's garden. We were also given a big bag of wood for our nighttime fire which was really nice. The house has a wonderful cottage feel to it and was also very clean. Will definitely book again!

We stayed 4 days at Lorraine's place and everything was perfect from the beginning to the last day. The pictures don't do justice to the interior, it is spotless, very well equipped (lots of towels, sheets, extra pillows, games, candles etc). Lorraine has thought of everything to make your stay extra comfortable. The outdoor space layout allows for lots of privacy. The view of the marina is amazing, and the picnic table right on the water! Firepit is a great addition, Mike provided us with lots of firewood. Communication with Mike and Lorraine was excellent, checking on us a couple of time during our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. Would definitely to come back to Grand Bend and stay at Lorraine's!

This was our first time staying at an AirBnB...I totally would do it again. Really felt like home away from home. If you are wanting to try one in Grand Bend I highly recommend Lorraine and Michaels place on the river. The grounds and location were breathtaking, their home is immaculate and so comfy with down filled bedding and sofa. They greeted us with a huge fruit basket, croissants and yogurts. Everything you need is provided including beach chairs and towels, picnic basket, games, magazines and books, free wifi, Netflix, bikes, firewood...even supplied all toiletries, lotions and potions and recommended the best places to eat.

We enjoy sailing in the summer and skiing in the winter. I especially like cooking and sharing my dishes with others. Michael is a Ski Patroller and is a ski instructor in the winter. During the summers, we live in Ontario, where we dock our boat in front of the house. Our togeth…
