Neighbourhood highlights

Our house is located in Centocelle, a typically lively Roman area, one of the villages of Rome born on August 21, 1921.
Well connected to the city center, via two urban tram lines and a metro line (LINE C).
The street names are mainly botanical themed including Via dei Castani, the central street – the "heart" – of Centocelle and shopping.
Dynamic and vital area, full of activities, restaurants and clubs but with ancient origins.
Centocelle has been known for several centuries as it derives from Centum Cellae, a military citadel built by Emperor Constantine I, where the knights of the imperial guard, the Equites Singulares Augusti, and their horses were housed.
In addition, the area was full of Roman villas, today the remains are located in the Archaeological Park of Centocelle.
1.5 km from the house are the remains of Villa Gordiani, a family that gave three Roman emperors in the 3rd century, located at the 3rd mile of Via Praenestina, remembered in the Historia Augusta as one of the largest and most sumptuous villas in the Roman suburbs.
Today, the park is an important meeting place for the neighborhood's residents, a very precious green area
In addition, Centocelle was home to the first Italian airport, right in the area where, starting on April 15, 1909, one of the Wright brothers, Wilbur, went to give a series of demonstrations of their Flyer, the first heavier-than-air motor aircraft that ever flew.
