Welcome to our historic two bedroom with a full kitchen. It's a short walk from Frenchman and the French Quarter. You're also steps from the restaurants and bars in Marigny and St Claude and near the Bywater. Please message BEFORE requesting to book.

The space

This apartment is half of an old traditional New Orleans double, or duplex, house which is 1000 square feet and has twelve foot ceilings. It is in the shotgun style, with two bedrooms, and an expansive open-concept dining room and kitchen. There's a queen-sized bed in the first bedroom and a full/double size in the second. The two bedrooms are separated by a bathroom. The bathroom has a tub and shower, towels. Kitchen comes fully equipped with dishes, toaster, microwave, stove, fridge. And perhaps most importantly a coffee maker ( and fresh-ground coffee with milk and soy milk). The house includes central heat and air. Ceiling fans in each room makes spring and fall very pleasant.

This house has been a beloved work-in-progress for a while now -- there are still a few rough edges, such as the mantels and imperfect floors, but we enjoy it so much. We've had many visitors, including grandparents, who found it comfortable and enjoyable to stay in. We thought we'd rent it out for to raise extra money to finish the last touches of the remodeling!

We provide on-street parking that is almost always in front of the house making loading and unloading easy. The house is two blocks to the bars, clubs, restaurants, and neighborhood co-op grocery store on St. Claude St. Three more blocks and you're on Frenchmen St. It's a 20 minute walk to the heart of the French Quarter. In the other direction, just passed the Marigny is the Bywater that has it's share of attractions too. The neighborhood is known as St. Roch. It's a working class neighborhood, with a variety of ages and kinds of people.

Other things to note

This was a cosy stay in a nice place with lots of room and a back yard. Very well situated to walk into the French quarter and to explore the local cafes, bars and shops of Marigny. I enjoyed my time here.

A wonderful place to stay - and really great value for money. Antonio was super helpful with ideas and suggestions for the local area, and was very flexible with accommodating an early arrival. Would highly recommend this place!

Great stay in New Orleans in Antonios house. Abntonio was very accommodating and met us when we arrived early. Great location to explore the French Quarter from, close by but not too close! Would definitely come back.

The apartment was perfect for our needs. Not in walking distance to downtown but we were aware of this on booking and we used Uber the whole weekend which couldn't have been better especially as the apartment had wifi. The apartment was in a nice neighbourhood and easy to find via taxi/uber. Great stay, would highly recommend.

Antonio's place is as described but the photos make the house appear much much brighter (the material covering the windows was awkward to open/close). However it is a very traditional New Orleans house and neighbhood where people will say hello. Antonio is a really nice guy living next door so readily available for any queries and he made us feel most welcome. We did find the house a bit sparse and basic but appreciate that it is still a work in progress. We loved our stay in the city and will definitely return.

Antonio’s place is situated in an area that is a bit rough around the edges and our uber driver told us that it was not safe to walk around in the evenings. Initially, this put us off and we were worried about staying here. However, Antonio was great at taking our concerns on board and came over to speak to us. He lives close by and was able to tell us more about the local area, the people in our neighborhood and the wonderful things just on our doorstep – including St Rochs Market – a great place to eat. Having spent just a day walking around the area and in other areas, including the French Quarter, we would not have chosen another place to be. There’s a great local bar called BJ’s lounge, with great live music, and we much preferred it to the more touristy music venues in the French quarter. There is also a Turkish café and co-op at the end of the street. Antonio was really helpful throughout our stay and even left us a breakfast cake and muffin on our doorstep on a rainy Sunday morning! The house is pretty basic but comfortable and spacious. We are sure you would be able to request more cooking utensils, crockery etc., if you wanted to cook. We would recommend anyone to stay here when in New Orleans!

Antonio was a fantastic host, really friendly and helpful when we had questions. The place is lovely, and set in a beautiful street. We couldn't have asked for a better location to explore the delights of New Orleans. It's also a cool retreat if the heat of the day gets too much! Wish we could stay forever!
