About this listing

Cottage on the west shore of Cayuga lake 3 miles north of Ithaca on Maplewood Road. Newly renovated interior with wall of painted glass. The front porch overlooks a beautiful white birch tree and a large landcrib with fire pit out over the water.

The space

We gutted the interior 2 years ago. Brand new cabinets, soapstone counters, and a wall of painted glass that reflects shimming lake water when the light catches it right. One full bathroom with new fixtures.

Guest access

The cottage is right on the lake. There is room for multiple cars on Maplewood Road - only one parking space down a fairly steep driveway. About 75 steps down to the water.

Interaction with guests

You can let yourself in. Kitchen is stocked with a welcome 6 pack of Ithaca Beer

Richards’s cottage is a great place to get away. It’s located in a nice part of town right on Cayuga Lake. There are plenty of outdoor activities including Kayaks, SUP’s, a Canoe, hiking, star gazing, and a fire pit. The cottage is remodeled and has a nice modern vibe to it. There are many stairs to get down to the cottage which can be good or bad depending on your group. In our case, we welcomed all the physical activity possible. The town of Ithaca is only a short 5-10 minute drive away if you need supplies, and the views are priceless. If you have time, I recommend taking a cruise up to Cornell University. The architecture and neighborhoods are beautiful. There are a few state parks nearby including Taughannock Falls and Treman if you want to see some of the gorges and waterfalls in the area. Overall, this was a great place to both relax and explore the outdoors. What they say is true, this place is absolutely “Gorges”

Beautiful house right on the lake! We were really pleased with the proximity to the water and the use of kayaks and paddleboards. One thing to be aware of is that the house is situated down a steep hill and many stairs, so it could be limiting for some guests.
