Guests will be greeted at check-in and then will have the apartment all to themselves. We are easily accessible to answer any questions you may have, but believe in giving guests their privacy.

The neighbourhood

The apartment is in the historic Bronzeville neighborhood (more specifically The Gap Landmark District). Bronzeville is definitely a neighborhood in transition and is full of character. This is a regular neighborhood with some of the regular Chicagoans that make the city great. If you are expecting a neighborhood full of tourists, chain restaurants and brand new suburban style housing, Bronzeville is not the neighborhood for you. Feel free to research more online about the neighborhood.

The greatest thing about this neighborhood is the central/convenient location. Only minutes from downtown, the lakefront and all of Chicago's most popular museums and attractions (including Navy Pier, Sears Tower, etc). Bronzeville is a historic neighborhood that has been very important to Chicago. The property is located in a landmarked subdivision (in Bronzeville) called the The Gap and is full of vintage greystones, brownstones, and mansions, as well as a lot of new development. Lake Michigan, 31st Street Beach/Marina and the lakefront trail are only a 15 minute walk away.

Getting around

The apartment is great for guests that have a preference for driving and especially perfect for those that prefer public transportation (save money by not having to rent a car). This is apartment is located less than 10 minutes south of downtown by car and less than 15 minutes by bus or train. For public transportation lovers, there is a bus stop directly in front of the apartment that will take you directly downtown. The "L" (the train) is only a 6 minute walk from the apartment, if you want to experience the train/subway system. Also, 2 separate Divvy bike racks are also located within 2 blocks of the apartment where you can rent bikes if you'd like to see the city on 2 wheels. Uber is a good option as well.

Other things to note

This rental is located in a 3 unit apartment building. Pets are not allowed in this apartment under any circumstances.

The place was perfectly located near McCormick Place. Home was cozy and perfect for our big family. Only 1 bathroom but we worked around it with all 8 of us. It was so much better coming back to a home rather than two hotel rooms. We were actually able to lounge around and enjoy each other's company in a home away from home. Matthew and Miranda were so helpful. Easily got Uber from there to around town which was reasonably priced. Would definitely stay here again.

You can be at ease when booking with Matthew and Miranda. Their communication is amazing. Unfortunately due to drive time and weather we weren't able to check in til midnight on a Wednesday but they were so flexible. I honestly cannot say enough good things. Our group had a lot of fun and was way easier and better then coordinating a bunch of hotel rooms. Hope to be back to Chicago soon. Zach

If you are coming to Chicago for a convention at McCormic, this property is ideal. It is about a 7-10 Uber ride from the Airb&b to the Convention center. Everything in the listing was accurate and clear. Check In was painless and a delight. I would definitely stay at this location again.

Great stay for the group of 11 we were! Miranda was waiting for us at our arrival with a warm welcoming, communication was excellent, and the place has everything needed. Just a 10/15mn away with Uber from the Loop. If you are a little chilly, make sure you sleep in one of the bedroom or bring a sleeping bag for the air mattress in the living room. Bonus that I loved: they did a handbook with all information :from restaurant, groceries around to house rules and check-out checklist, very helpful! Would recommend, and book again!

Matthew & Miranda's place is beautiful, tidy, well furnished and all together just ideal for a bigger group of people visiting Chicago. Even though it is located a bit aside from the centre, we used Uber all the time, that gets you to the centre within 15 mins for usually less than 13$. Even though we had a little issue with the oven, everything was sorted out very quickly and Miranda was very helpful. Would definitely recommend end this place.

Matthew & Miranda User ProfileMatthew & Miranda is a superhost.

My wife and I are fairly avid travelers. Since we live in Chicago, a lot of our trips are to warmer climates. Some of my favorite places to visit are New Orleans, Phoenix, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Mexico, Colombia, Bahamas, and Toronto (not warm, but we love that city). My favorite trips have been to Kenya and Colombia. My dream trip would be to any country that I have not visited yet.

5 things that i can't live without: my family (my wife, daughter and son are my travel companions), my cellphone, music, traveling, public transportation.

We very seldom stay in hotels. Due to the fact that we normally vacation for a least a week at a time, we tend to rent vacation homes/condos. We like the flexibility of being able to cook some meals ourselves in order to save money and we prefer to stay in regular neighborhoods instead of being surrounded by tourists in hotels.

There's a big world out there.....see it!
