New beautiful 2nd floor 1-bedroom cabin has 2 big comfy beds, kitchen, private bath, lots of light, deck overlooking garden, & steps away from Alberta Arts restaurants, local music & art venues, craft brew pubs, 2 hot tub spas, Salt & Straw Ice Cream. LGBTQ & family friendly (including PackNPlay crib & great local kid's books). Also specially equipped for business travelers. Suitable for people with common allergies (clean, no pets, no smoking, use only eco-cleaners).

The space

Cabin is new, cozy, beautiful, and has everything you need to enjoy the Alberta Arts District's famous local food, music, craft beer & wine, ice cream (Salt & Straw), & 2 of the best hot tub spas (Common Ground & Kennedy School are short walk away). You sleep in a super comfy queen-sized bed, have a full-sized futon couch for guests, have home-made delicious organic granola & ancient grains cereal for breakfast with organic rice milk, organic coffee and a selection of organic black, green, & herbal teas in the kitchen, as well as coffee makers, microwave, toaster oven, hot plate, blender, frying pan, stainless steel pot, & refrigerator for making food or heating up leftovers. Beautiful south-facing cedar deck overlooks our garden & the whole neighborhood. We are super available & knowledgeable if you have questions about the best places for food, hiking, music, art, or whatever you're interested in. Because our community has a large urban vegetable garden and three vegan/vegetarian cooks who cook for us three times a week, we know a lot about great local food in Portland. Omnivores also live in our community and so we can help you tap into the great local food, beer/cider, and wine scenes that make Portland one of the key foodie capitals of the US. We have a PackNPlay crib & lots of locally-created kid's books, and your cabin is kid-friendly.

Guest access

You walk down a well-lit, beautiful, landscaped gravel driveway and up a set of stunning cedar stairs to your completely separate deck and cabin. You can graze through our wonderful vegetable & herb garden (which has great arugula, spinach, fennel, kale, French Sorrel, Swiss Chard, and lots of herbs even in the winter).

Interaction with guests

We offer free, simple concierge services if you have questions about where to experience great food, beer/wine/cider, hiking, music, art, or other things you need or want. We'll give you a cell phone number and email to contact us, and you can also knock on the front door of our main house if you want to talk in person.

Other things to note

Your Eco-Cabin is super well-insulated, on a quiet street, and in the back of our property, so you'll be able to sleep in quiet and peace while being steps away from one of the most vibrant and creative neighborhoods in Portland. We are a fully-licensed AIRBNB with the City of Portland. Lic# 15-247164-000-00-HO

Below is some information about what we intend to provide you to make your stay enjoyable, as well as a list of things we request you do and refrain from doing to assure your stay is successful for you, our other guests, and our neighbors.

You may check-in at 3 pm or any time after
LATE CHECK-IN: if you are going to arrive after 10 pm, we request you be very quiet out of respect for us, our other guests, and our neighbors. Since the lock to your unit is the last four digits of the phone number you provided us, you can check in late, if need be and won’t have to disturb us or anyone.
EARLY CHECK-IN: If you want to stash your luggage BEFORE 3 pm, we can almost certainly make this happen for a $10 fee if you let Bart Church know at least 24 hours in advance.

PLEASE TRY TO USE BIKES/MASS TRANSIT: Because our community has a strong commitment to sustainability, we request you use a bike, mass transit, and/or car-sharing services (UBER or LYFT) both to get your Eco-Cabin and to get around in Portland. There are three very frequent bus lines very near your Eco-Cabin that will take you quickly to most areas in the Portland metro area: BUS LINES #8 (connects w/ Red, Blue & Green Max at nearby Lloyd Center), #17 (goes downtown via Broadway), #72 (connects w/ Yellow Line Max on Interstate). More public transit info is (email hidden), or you can use one of these great apps:
For IPhone use the pdxbus app
For Android use Portland Bus 2 app

RENT OUR BIKES FOR $10/day: Portland is the most bike-friendly city in the U.S. and you'll see a lot more of what makes Portland amazing by exploring by bike. We can rent you up to 2 bikes, bike locks, and helmets for just $10/day per bike. At no extra charge, we could even set you up with a bike bucket to carry your backpack, laptop, &/or snacks.

PARKING: If you have or rent a car, we require you to park on NE Wygant, which is ½ block south of your Eco-Cabin. Your Eco-Cabin is only ½ block south of Alberta Street in the heart of one of the most popular and fun neighborhoods in Portland. This means a lot of people like to park on our block and we don’t want to annoy our neighbors by adding even more parking challenges. Wygant Street almost always has plenty of very convenient free parking.

Bart is a very conscientious host who's really keen to make sure you take full advantage of all Portland has to offer. He provided loads of information and advice. The cabin has a nice porch - it's compact and immaculate with provisions like granola and coffee. It is ideal for a couple or couple with a child. Alberta is a fantastic neighborhood and all the restaurants and breweries are on your doorstep.

The Eco-cabin was perfect! The location was ideal, nice and quiet but close to the fantastic Alberta Street. It had everything we needed and was so comfortable. The little extras such as tea, granola and rice milk were the cherries on the cake. Plus Bart's advice on how to get about and what to do were fantastic. We loved our stay in Portland and will definitely be coming back!

Great location and well appointed apartment. We loved riding the bikes all day and found Michael to be very helpful. It’s half a block from one of Portland’s coolest streets so the location is unbeatable. Would definitely stay here again.

Location was ideal, I could easily walk to my class at the Little Church and take a break at lunch. Being so near to Alberta street was convenient for entertainment and eating out. Liked the thoughtful details and comfort of being able to eat my breakfast without going to a restaurant. Everything was there that I wanted. All communications had quick confirmations, even when my plans changed. Host was readily available, but not hovering. Overall a great experience.
