A comfy room with a great view, that’s what you’ll get here, and much more.

The price is for a double bedroom and there’s a triple as well.

The space

Danushka’s is a three story guesthouse built on a hill facing Ella Rock and Ravana Falls. It offers two rooms with a great view, spacious balcony, separate entrance and an attached bathroom with hot water. On top, there’s a kitchen and a dining area, where you can enjoy a meal or read a book while enjoying the view.

Interaction with guests

We were welcomed with tea by the very friendly 19-year old Danushka, who takes care of guests together with his brother and parents, who met in a train, fell in love and lived happily ever after. Danushka drives a tuktuk and can arrange tours around the area, while his mom can make food for guests upon request. We had a nice and filling kottu rotti when we were there.

We are a young couple from Manchester uk, we stayed at Danushkas place for two nights . The place is maybe 2 km out of Ella town rested upon one of the many hillsides, although Danushkas father is a tuktuk driver which makes it very easy to get Into town he only changed 200lkr to bob you into town. The view for breakfast over Ella town is a sight to behold, and Danushka is a highly attentive young host. Defo worth the money we paid.

Very good place to stay in Ella, the host are welcoming. They had bring some tea and crackers when we arrived. The room was clean and spacious. You can also enjoy the view.

Mr. Danushka is a great host who does everything to make your stay a good one. His English is limited but the organisation Neverbeen solves that. You can just e-mail them and they call him within minutes to explain everything. It worked perfect for us when we needed traintickets and a doctor. The room is clean, simple and good for the price you pay. We would recommend to take the breakfast which is 250 rupee per person (1,7 euro). The location is a little bit out of town but the view is great. It will cost you 200 rupees (1,30 euro) to get a tuk-tuk into town.

To be honest, I'd say the room is greatly overpriced for it's properties. It was clean, but not new-looking, quite dark and lacking day light. There is a balcony, but due to the 2nd floor, it lacks the view. Everything you could see is trees in front and the road. The host was very friendly and proposed tea and a piece of cake on my arrival, further communication was also easy. Unfortunately, I would not stay here for the second time - for this price I lived in a more pleasant room with great mountain view very close to this house in Ella

This guesthouse has a lovely view from the balconies and a clean and comfortable room. It is a nice, but long walk down to the town, and we generally took a 200 rupee tuk tuk ride back up at the end of the day. I would recommend taking the offer of breakfast in the morning, as it was delicious and very reasonably priced. The wifi was not good in our bedroom, but better on the upper balcony. The hosts speak enough English to get by, but not enough for conversation.

Neverbeen User Profile

Neverbeen offers a wide variety of rare homes off the beaten track, from fisherman's huts and tree houses to heritage homes and tea estates. Our team hand-picks and visits every home and meet all hosts to make ensure guests have a positively memorable stay in places they've never been.

We provide travellers and home owners in challenging locations with access to one another, by offering communication services, online marketing services and tourism training, so that locals can make a living off their home and travellers can get to stay in places they have never been.

As such, Neverbeen works for a world in which everyone has the chance to earn income by renting out their home, regardless of language, internet access and tourism experience.

In Sri Lanka, Dishan manages our growing group of homes in cooperation with our scouts, while Rohan creates listings and provides service. In Amsterdam, Marten works out international growth plans. Our team of in-house programmers is constantly developing the platform itself and Ernst & Young does our finances.

The first country we're active in is Sri Lanka, a beautiful country with many undiscovered places to stay. Due to it recently having opened up to tourism after decades of conflict, it is a great place to start and pilot the Neverbeen concept. We plan to expand to ten countries before the end of 2017.
