This place felt like a home away from home. the community style of living and lack of locking the main door might not be for everyone but I felt like I was around family. it was a wonderful experience and I would definitely stay with Koji and his family again. They are truly spectacular hosts :)

We believe there are 7 rooms at this property. It looked every inch a hostel, full of hippy artefacts and new age graffitti, scruffy and the kind of place anyone over 35 would feel deeply uncomfortable in. There are no locks on any doors, including bathroom which opens out onto a filthy kitchen which is only periodically tidied away. On the plus side, the accomodation is cheap (in Japan, you always get what you pay for so this should have been a clue) and very well located for the centre of Nagoya. Also, the wifi is reliable and hot water never a problem. If you are in your 20's and travelling on a tight budget and dont want a homestay experience, this is your ideal accommodation option. If you are in your 50's and want to see the 'real' Japan, you will feel extremely disappointed as we did and seriously considering looking for a hotel.

The place is very comfortable & family oriented. The host is warm and helpful. Kamejima subway station is 5-mins away for walking. My room is big but it's close to the street so I could hear the cars ran through. This was the only issue at night. But overall, this was a very nice experience. A good value!

First, keep in mind that this is an old Japanese home converted into a hostel. You will be sharing all spaces (except your room) with possibly many other people. There is a pretty unclean cat that is allowed to walk all over the rooms and pillows before your arrival. If you ask for clean sheets, the cat might be in the closet laying on them. The bathroom next to the guest rooms has a filthy, stained cloth seat cover. The sheets don't fully cover the futon or pillow. And the doors don't lock.

I enjoyed my stay and i got to meet a friend for a day which is always nice. The host was nice and responsive. Everything was overall good about the place but nothing exceptional. I felt like at least my room needed maybe a little more attention, but I cant complain too much cause the price was good. Therefore I give this place 4 stars.
