If you are looking for a homestay to live with the locals and experience real Vietnamese life look no further! Thongs place is located right by the river surrounded by amazing street food and bars (even for vegans/vegetarians). He gives the best recommendations and his family are so helpful in guiding you through your trip. Truly a special family always offering food and drinks and making you feel right at home. Accommodation is basic but with ac and large rooms! We loved every minute and ubers/grabs to the city/backpacker areas are super cheap! Wifi is good too and filtered water is available! We adored our stay here and will be back soon! Nothing was too difficult and Thong even got us medicine when we were ill without us asking! Amazing people, amazing place! Truly a home away from home!

If you are looking for a friendly and well connected place in HCMC , Thong's place is great value! Really feels like home! The house is clean and well organised, kitchen and sitting room on the ground floor and another 3 floors above. On which there are 3 rooms and 2 bathrooms, all the rooms are the same size, only decorated slightly different. If this is your first time is South East Asia be prepared to sleep on a very hard mattress, you will soon get used to it, and you might end up getting one for yourself ! :) Communication was great from the time of booking to chk out, Thong's English is perfect and if you ask, he will help you with almost anything if he can. There is an amazing local vegetarian (chay) place just few minutes walk from the house definitely worth a visit. The neighbourhood felt very authentic and safe. We highly recommend Thong's home ! Definitely will stay there again if back in HCMC.

-We would highly recommend staying here. We arrived late at night in Saigon after a long flight & little sleep. Thong was there to greet us & show us our room. He gave us a great map of the city & our locale with interesting places and useful facilities clearly marked. The home was kept to a high standard of cleanliness & Thong was a great help with any questions and queries we had. He is warm, friendly & definitely one of the good guys. He ordered us a car on our last morning & even called the driver after to check we had got out lift all sorted. We would not hesitate to stay with Thong again. The neighbourhood is so much more interesting than staying in a regular tourist/backpacker area. Great value for money too & I miss the reliable wifi now I'm on Phu Quoc island.

We met as the guests and the hosts and we left as friends. It was an amazing experience here, where we got to know each other and had a great time. Definitely recommend, and if we happen to visit Ho Chi Minh City again, we will definitely stay here.

Thông is an amazing host and this homestay is ideal for anybody who wants to experience the lifestyle of the locals in Ho Chi Minh. Thông gives good advice, a great map and is terrific at being helpful. He knows the area and the city inside out so if you have any questions he will answer you with a smile. As we were in need of new password photos for our Cambodian visa he gave us a ride on his vintage motorbike to the local store and it was the best price we have seen. He also helped by booking our bus to Phnom Penh and getting us a great price then telling us the inner city busses that we need to get around Ho Chi Minh cheaply. The house is very clean, Thông is a very clean person and you can tell he takes pride in his house. The shower is spectacular and rooms are very spacious. He will show you how to use the laundry room for free (which is amazing). Thông's kitten Oslo is the sweetest animal in the world too. The homestay is located amongst lots of local places to eat for cheap, our favourite noodle soup that we have eaten in the 3 weeks of our travels in Vietnam is on the Phan Van Han and cost £1! You can get delicious Banh Mi and Bahn Che'ng in the area too. We stayed for 5 nights (including Christmas Eve, Christmas and Boxing Day) and these were the best days we had in our travels of Vietnam. We were made to feel at home and welcome by a man who you can talk to about anything. 5 stars.

After a long time of working, I'm retired & run a small home business with my son to host & serve travellers visiting Dalat, Vietnam. Come & enjoy your vacation here, the small Paris of Vietnam.
