Description

The space

The house has three bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed with a private en suite bathroom, a natural stone tiled deck with a hammock and pergola, a natural palm "palapa" roof, and sweeping ocean and coastline views. The other two bedrooms are connected with a "Jack and Jill" style bathroom. Both of these bedrooms are at ground level. The stairs between levels are outside. The smaller front bedroom has a full bed and opens to lush gardens and the pool. The back bedroom is more of an "overflow sleeping area", that, while large and clean, does not offer the views of the other bedrooms. (It is great for kids)!
The main level of the house has a fully equipped kitchen open to living and dining areas with ample seating. There is a large covered terrace off the kitchen with an additional dining area, and a built in sofa and daybed for taking a nap or relaxing with a book.
The property has small pool (larger than a dipping pool but smaller than a standard pool) with lounge chairs. The landscaping incorporates native fruit and palm trees and abundant tropical flowers.

Guest access

This is a private home and pool.

Interaction with guests

Ramon Avila, owner of Avila Property Management, is the caretaker for Casa Luna. Ramon has lived in both Mexico and the USA and is fluent in English and Spanish. Upon arriving in Sayulita, he will meet you at his family's business in town and take you to the house. He will be available by phone or email throughout your stay to assist you with your needs. The homeowner, Susan, lives in the United States and is available by phone, text, or email to assist if you need anything.

The neighbourhood

Casa Luna is located on Gringo Hill which is only a 3-5 minute walk to the main plaza and beach. From the main plaza you can take a "short cut" up two blocks of a steep cobbled road and stairs, or you can take a slightly longer route that winds more gently up the cobblestone road to the house. From the plaza, the remaining 3 blocks to the beach is flat. Most adults in normal physical condition find the walk up the hill enjoyable and not too strenuous. If you have very young children or health concerns you might want to consider renting a golf cart. It is a close and convenient location to town and the beach but the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful as the hill blocks most of the late night noise from town. Although the hill blocks the town noise, typical of Mexico you will hear roosters and occasionally loud tropical birds.

Getting around

There is an off street parking space on the property but a car is not necessary in Sayulita. Most amenities are within walking distance. Golf cart rentals are available in town.

Other things to note

Rates include full maid service 1x mid week for stays of 7 nights, with linens changed upon request. No maid service is included for stays less than 7 nights, or partial weeks. If you prefer more frequent maid service, it is is available at your request for a charge of $30.00 per mid week cleaning.
Drinking water is included.
Temperatures are very comfortable from November through April. The hottest time of the year is July through mid October. Casa Luna does NOT have air conditioning. Although Casa Luna Luna has fans and catches the ocean breeze (when there is one), Sayulita can get quite hot. Those who are sensitive to heat might want to consider accommodations with A/C during the hot months.
I want every guest to be happy, and Ramon and I work hard to make sure that is the case. Most guests are very satisfied with Casa Luna and we have many return visitors. The occupancy rate exceeds 90% during the high season. However, even though the photos are accurate and I have made every effort to accurately describe the home, every now and then there is a guest for whom the house did not live up to their expectations. For clarity I am stating the following: Casa Luna is a beautiful, clean, and modest Mexican home in a wonderful location, and the reasonable rates reflect that. It is not a luxury home. If you are looking for a luxury home there are many of them available in Sayulita, with much higher rates.
Casa Luna is new to airbnb as of Nov. 2015, but previous reviews can be found on the Sayulitalife website.

Sorry, but there is no smoking at Casa Luna.

The Casa Luna home is a wonderful oasis in an ideal location for access to Sayulita and all it has to offer. The property is stunning and unique and the accommodations were comfortable and we had everything we needed. It's a perfect place to relax as well as explore. It's even more beautiful than the pictures! We would love to go back again.

A groups of 5 of us stayed at Casa Luna and really enjoyed the space, the location and privacy and the room to hang out! We didn't feel crowded and loved hanging out on the porches. The location is up a hill from town, which is nice walk to get away from the busyness (wouldn't be great if you have trouble walking or aren't in shape). Susan provided great information, was easily reachable, and Ramon was welcoming. Thank you!

Casa luna is perched just up the hill in Sayulita with a great view of the ocean. The beds were comfortable and it is a good home to hang out with a group. The kitchen is really nice and a great place to cook up some fish you may have caught that day. We would definitely recommend Casa Luna!

There is a lovely view from both the upper and lower decks. The kitchen is large and perfect for a family. The house is located near the top of a steep hill, paved with cobblestones.

I enjoyed staying at this house in Sayulita. It has neat outdoor stairs with a spacious outdoor patio perfect for enjoying hanging out in mornings/evenings with a view. The pool was nice to dip into after a hot afternoon/walk up to the house from town and even just lounging next to for an afternoon. We did not find the house to be as quiet as described however. I would encourage earplugs! Minor problem though. Close to town/beach/shopping/restaurants/plaza

We had such an amazing time in Sayulita and this house was a great home base. 7 friends traveling together, the house had plenty of beds and bathrooms for everyone to be comfortable. The pool was such a great way to cool off after the walk back up the hill from town. Short 5 min walk to town center. The walk back up is all uphill but really Sayulita is a town of hills so everywhere not right in the center of town will be up hill. We had a friend with us who just had her foot reconstructed and she managed fine. Ramon was a pleasure to work with.
