Description

The space

If you would like a perfect holiday in an idyllic countryhouse in the heart of Périgord you need to look no further.

The house is located within a five minute stroll from the Unesco World Heritage Cadouin Abbey, where you can go and pick up your fresh croissant from the baker in the morning before you decide what to do (if anything) for the rest of the day.

The village is ideally located for exploring the best of the French countryside. Even though you can enjoy good restaurants and a nice drink at the local Abbey square, you can also adventure and explore the region easily with a car. There are numerous prehistoric sites and castles in the region, and also lots of possibilities for combining this with an active holiday. There are numerous canoeing and biking rentals in the areas, as well as numerous hiking trails, and swimming in the river to be done (with or without renting a canoe). In addition the village itself is surrounded by meadows, forests and hiking trails.

Luckily, when you are done exploring there are some amazing restaurants in the region as well. The closest ones are located within a five minute walk from the house at the square, and they serve the most amazing local treats, such as the local speciality garlic soup (tourin), duck, red wine, foie gras, cheese and other local treats according to the season.

The house itself is about 130 m2 and consists of the following

Ground floor: living room, kitchen, lounge, bedroom (bed 140), toilet and shower room + exit to terrace of about 20 sqm.
Upstairs: Two large attic rooms, separated by a door. One has a regular 120 cm wide bed, and the second room has 130 cm wide sofabed. There is also a toilet and washroom upstairs.
Facilities: washing machine, dishwasher, oven, microwave, TV, gas central heating.

Free Internet access at the tourist office in the village (3 minutes walk).

There is a private secured parking space for one car.

Nearest Airport: Bergerac 20 km. Has rental cars available and is served by Ryanair from London.
Nearest Train station: Le Buisson de Cadouin 5 km

We have had guests from the US, London and Europe staying at our place and they have all fallen in love with the village. This is what the French countryside used to be like, and really should be like. We are also able to give you suggestions with respect to restaurants and sights in the area.

The location of the cottage was perfect - a 5 minute walk from a beautiful village which itself was well placed for car trips around the area. We were given excellent instructions before our arrival and were greeted warmly by the hosts brother-in-law. The cottage was well appointed for self catering but the village also had excellent restaurants.

The location is excellent, a pretty village with a lively vibe. Francoise's brother in law was very helpful and it was a great chance for my wife to practise her French. The house is simply and traditionally furnished only 5 minutes walk from the village square.

The listing was accurate. All of the facilities were as described and the location was perfect in a lovely historical Dordogne village.

We had a very good time at Francoises place. A beautiful house with a beautiful garden in a more than lovely village. The house is very spacious, comfortable and clean. The pictures can't express how wonderful it is to stay there and to explore the surroundings and the way of life in Perigord. The communication in advance with Francoise was always very kind, fast, informative and helpful. After arrival we have received a very warm and friendly welcome by her brother in law. Francoise told us before that he doesn't speak English. So we were really impressed that he spoke to us in German. We can fully recommend Francoise and her family as a host and also the house where we could have stayed for weeks! Thank you very much for the opportunity to spent the first part of our holidays in lovely Cadouin!

Francoise's brother greeted us warmly and showed us around the house. We didn't speak any French and he didn't speak much English but we communicated well regardless! For four of us it was just what we wanted; large, well equipped and clean country cottage. Only a few minutes walk to the small village centre with friendly people. We would stay here again.

Francoise had everything ready for us and she emailed me several times before out arrival. The house was charming; a perfect little retreat. The house was extremely clean, well equipped in terms of the kitchen utensils and crockery and spacious; far much more room than we needed for the two of us! Francoise's brother lives next door and came to check on us on the evening of our arrival and departure and although he doesn't speak English, he was very friendly and welcoming. The house is only 2 minutes walk from the little village of Cadouin which has much more amenities that first anticipated - 2 restaurants, a bakery (which was excellent), a tabac, and a local food shop. Not to mention a UNESCO world heritage site. Overall, an excellent holiday, thank you

What a beautiful location to spend a few days! Françoise house is clean and had everything we needed. We were greeted by her brother-in-law on arrival who showed us how everything worked and was really friendly. We especially enjoyed sitting in the little garden in the evening looking at the stars and listening to birds.
