Where you’ll be

Lead, South Dakota, United States

Quiet friendly neighborhood. Lead is a quaint small town with lots of charm. A rich mining history and outstanding outdoor activities describe the community that was first settled in 1876 during the Black Hills Gold Rush.

Tucked into the steep folds of the Black Hills of South Dakota, Lead is a place where you can escape from the world, an off-the-beaten path playground where one can enjoy the best outdoors fun… without the crowds! So if you are looking for adventure-filled year-round outdoor recreation, Lead might just be the perfect alternative you’ve been looking for.

The Black Hills Mining Museum and the Homestake Visitor Center are just two of the numerous attractions that must be visited when traveling to Lead. Hiking, mountain and road biking, trail running, hunting and fishing, automobile touring and sightseeing are among the summer activities in and around Lead. In the winter, downhill and cross-country skiing, snow-shoeing and snowmobiling are the outdoor activities of choice.

Lead is a small urban town with population of around 3,100.

Hi I'm Amy. I'm so glad you are considering staying at our vacation home. First about us, we have been married for 16 years and have two terrific kiddos. Our family loves to travel and we love to spend time at our house on top of the hill. We fell in love with South Dakota (Lead) and knew we would one day own a quaint old house - we got lucky finding our house - it was in the middle of a complete remodel and had only drywall up when we purchased it - from the texture to the furniture, we were able to make it ours. We live in Colorado on a small farm that keeps us busy along with "real" work and growing kid activities.
