Kanuka cottage was a rustic retreat in a beautiful setting. We enjoyed the native birdsong, the deliciously warm wood burner and the bush bath! It was close to the mussel inn and Carolyn was a great host. Didn't get to meet quantum the cat though :(

Driving to the peaceful countryside at Golden Bay and Kanuka cottage we appreciated we were in a beautiful corner of the NZ. Carolyn met us on arrival and introduced us to the area and the facilities of her wee haven. You do have to be comfortable with going outside to the Loo on the backporch but it's part of the experience of hearing the Morepork hooting at night. The outside bath and shower is great. It makes you feel quilty of using water as you don't want to get out. Dining on the deck by starlight was great. Local beachparty, forest walks and the astonishing Cape Farewell were a highlight.

Beautiful secluded space and only a short walk to the Mussell Inn for live music and great beer. Listening to the native birds whilst laying in the outdoor bath was a highlight!

Carolyn's place is so cosy and cute- secluded and relaxing. It was very clean with all the basic amenities you need for a couple of nights. We really enjoyed our stay!

Hi I'm a naturopath and craniosacral therapist living on a beautiful rural bush property in Golden Bay, snuggled between two national parks in the north-west corner of the South Island of Aotearoa New Zealand. Yes - I live in paradise! I love to travel to distant destinations and I always love to come home to our nurturing natural landscapes and friendly community. I love being creative in my work and home environment. I also love stories and enjoy watching movies at our local Village Theatre, meeting friends at one of our great local cafes or relaxing at home with a good book. Our beaches and bush walks are my playground.
