Description
Description

The space

St Agnes Bed & Breakfast is in the village of Xaghra on the beautiful Mediterranean island of Gozo in the Maltese Archipelago. Situated in a quiet, typically Gozitan alleyway, the accommodation offers peace and serenity all year round yet it is only a 5 minute walk from the village square with a multitude of quality restaurants, cafes, bars and shops.

Guest access

We have our own south-facing private pool and deck area with a BBQ for the use of guests. There is an honesty bar on the guest floor with water, beer and wine available. We have 2 bicycles and safety helmets for hire, along with lads of local information guides and maps.

Interaction with guests

We are on-hand to answer any questions you may have. If we go out, you can call us on our mobile at any time. We can provide free transfers to and from the ferry terminal in Mgarr, and arrange transfers from Malta International Airport to the ferry terminal at Cirkewwa (extra charge). If you want to hire a car, we will happily assist you with this if required. There are bus-stops in the village square, a 5 minute walk away.

The neighbourhood

We are situated in one of the old, traditional areas of the village, perched high on the valley-edge overlooking Marsalforn Valley. There is a small supermarket less than 100 metres from the B&B, and the village square with a choice of shops, bars, restaurants and cafes, is only a short walk away (5 minutes). We are within 20 minutes' walk of Ggantija Temples, one of the oldest structures on the planet! Beaches are within easy reach via public transport.

Getting around

There are bus stops in the village square, with routes to Ramla bay, Victoria, Mgarr and Marsalforn. We have 2 bicycles available for hire. If you have a car, there is parking outside or on the quiet road.

Other things to note

We pride ourselves on our breakfasts which are tailored to guests' requirements. Breakfast options include full cooked English, Continental, scrambled eggs with or without smoked salmon, omelettes, poached eggs and bacon, cereals, toast, bread and yoghurt. Vegetarian/vegan/special diets can be catered for. We pride ourselves on the quality of our breakfasts, and wherever possible, we serve the freshest local ingredients. We source our free-range eggs in the village, cheese from our neighbour, hand-made preserves from a farmer's market, honey from a local producer and fruit and vegetables from Gozitan farmers.

I have lived on Gozo for over 9 years, and know the island well. A real foodie, I love to cook with local ingredients using the freshest seasonal produce. Being an animal lover, I have actively volunteered with Gozo SPCA since I arrived and am their magazine Editor.

I fell in love with Gozo back in the 1990's, as did my parents who retired here from a cold and wet Lancashire, UK in 2002. I found my way to Gozo in 2006. From 2006-2012 I worked as PR Manager/Director in Malta, but decided to give all that up. Since then, I have worked as a Veterinary Assistant and as a Sous Chef, before setting up our B&B.

David and I look forward to welcoming you into our home, and wish to make your stay on the island as comfortable as possible.
