A wonderful property in a stunning corner of New Zealand....the perfect escape from the Big Smoke! Maxine was a great host - excellent communication both before and during our stay. Maxine went out of her way to ensure we had everything we needed and the little extras were a great touch! The cottage is well equipped. We loved sitting on the deck each evening with a beer taking in the peace and quiet and stunning views. There is lots to do in the area - especially recommend the boat ride up the Mokau River and a trip to the Three Sisters. We also enjoyed exploring the gravel back roads north of Awakino - strap yourself in! Thank you Maxine- we hope to return for some more R&R in the future.!!

The house is very modern and clean. Brand-new for Airbnb. Maxine is very friendly host. Our family enjoyed the motorbike farm trip very much.

Fabulous house and views. Maxine was helpful and friendly. If it's wet weather the track at top near house entrance maybe slippy but I'm sure more gravel would rectify this. Don't let this put you off though.

After deciding to take a short notice trip from Taupo over to New Plymouth we set about searching for something in the area. We love the coast, but equally like peace and quiet. Well this place was ideal for us (2 adults & 2 kids), spacious and comfortable and with all amenities needed for our stay. It is remote, but what a beautiful setting and fantastic communication throughout. We were even treated to some fresh farm eggs and milk and a lovely bottle of wine. Thank you Maxine, we highly recommend this place if you love peace, tranquility and you must visit the nearby beach to see the Three Sisters and Elephant Rock; stunning beach!!

Maxine had great, swift communication and was very accommodating to our extra needs. This place feels brand new and is clean, very cosy and warm, and the beds are super comfortable. The fresh milk and eggs included with breakfast were amazing. There's even a small firepit to potentially melt marshmallows in. Views were lovely as well. Perfect place to relax after a long day of sightseeing.

Lovely views in a great rural setting, we truly felt away from everything. Our highlight of our trip to NZ were the stars - truly amazing/breath taking

Maxine was so sweet! she gave really detailed descriptions of how to get to her house. I was a bit nervous at first, but once you turn onto awakau road her directions are spot on. The house was clean, the view was jaw-dropping from every room, it was quiet and perfect for my friends and I. It is a bit of a drive from Auckland, but SO worth it. My friends and I had a blast here and we will definitely want to be back. One of the coolest houses I've ever stayed at. Maxine was also very good about communication and she brought us fresh milk. Thank you Maxine for everything!! I highly recommend staying here!!

Hi everyone I'm a mum of 8 kids, I grew up on the Hakari farm and my husband grew up on the Hutiwai farm. We love meeting people and I'm really enjoying hosting, especially now that our children are leaving the nest!
My husband and I are down to earth and love the unique environment around us, our family won an environment Award from the Taranaki Region Council for the planting of the Hutiwai stream for the conservation of the Whitebait and we work closely with the Taranaki Kiwi Trust and their breeding program. Family and relationships are important to us.
We look forward to meeting you soon!!
