The space

Your search is over.

......if you want somewhere special. Designed with the traveller in mind, your cottage is nestled at the end of a Riverside Lane at Nelligen. Being enthusiastic travellers ourselves, we understand the two greatest desires you have is really comfortable and clean accommodation. And a location that you can't wait to tell your friends about.

The accommodation is clean, spacious and just a little bit quirky. Lots of features that will want to make you go "Wow!"

An open plan lounge/kitchenette with not only the usual features you would expect to find but more. Such as a Nespresso machine with locally roasted coffee. Reverse cycle air-conditioning. Laz-E-Boy recliners. Flat screen television and DVD. Bose sound system. The bedroom is a huge 17 square metres. Queen size bed with a super comfortable Sealy Posturepedic mattress.

And that is just the start. If that is not enough to make you go "wow", then walk a few steps to our private jetty on the Clyde River. Grab a comfortable chair, sit back and relax. It is a busy river though. Pelicans soar past. Teals paddle nearby. Fish jump from the water. Or just wave to the occasional fishing or houseboat as they cruise past.

Around dusk is the perfect time for a plate of Clyde River Oysters washed down with your favourite wine or ale. If it gets a little chilly, enjoy your own campfire or even have a barbecue.

Guest access

Your accommodation is fully self contained. Your own bathroom. Your own space. We want you to enjoy the serenity of the Clyde River as much as we do so you are welcome to sit by the jetty, have a barbecue or even a campfire.

Interaction with guests

We have been involved in the tourism industry for many years. Not only as avid travellers, but also helping travellers enjoy their own experiences. We've been involved in helping manage one of the worlds largest adventure travel companies. We've owned and operated a holiday park on the south coast where we welcomed guests from across the globe. Trip Advisor rated it as a Centre of Excellence.

In short, we understand the needs of travellers and we will do our best to ensure you have the best possible experience. Whether it is a friendly chat or directing you to one of our favourite coffee shops, we can help. Want to go bushwalking? We know the best walks. Want to see Kangaroos? We know where you are guaranteed to see them! Want to know the best beaches? We lived on one of them for over 13 years.

We also understand you may prefer to just enjoy the serenity. We will respect your privacy. If it is peace and quiet you seek, we have no immediate neighbours - unless you include the odd houseboat cruising past.....

Other things to note

Yes. Great for checking your emails and planning your adventures. The wifi extends to the jetty as well.

There is no mobile phone reception. We do have a landline phone if you do need to make or receive a call though.

Just about everything you need.
Nespresso machine
Rice Cooker
Convection Microwave Oven (Grill oven)
Plates, glasses, cutlery
Various dishes
Outdoor barbecue - down by the river
Fridge with a good size Freezer
No dishwashing machine - but hot water, detergent and dishcloths will help you keep our wine glasses sparkling

Yes. Your bed is fully made up with fine linen and comfortable quilts. Towels and bathmats also supplied.

A Miele washing machine is in your bathroom. Washing powder is provided. Though no drier is inside your accommodation, you can use ours or just hang up your gear on our clothes line.

A small but powerful Bose Portable sound system is ready for you to just plug in your smart phone or ipod. Maybe take it down by the River for some mood music!

Free Netflix! Plenty of movies there to chill out to. We also get most of the commercial TV channels. Or kick back and watch a movie from our DVD collection if you prefer.

Toilet paper. Soap provided.

An energy efficient and super quiet reverse cycle air-conditioner is provided. Keeps you cool in summer and warm in winter. Just don't leave it on all day please.

If you want to bring your boat, there are two boat ramps nearby and plenty of space on the property to park your boat and trailer.

Absolutely. Flathead, bream, mulloway and the odd snag! You will probably need a licence though. If you don't have one, we can help you arrange on online.

The property is right on the Clyde River. Though you can swim in the river, the tidal influence can be strong. So we do ask you use your common sense and be water safe in general. If you do bring your own boat or kayak, we can offer you lots of advice, but you may be unable to tie up at the Jetty depending upon your boat size.

Though we live on site, it doesn't always mean we will be here. We like to travel a lot - either overseas or maybe just going for a kayak paddle down the Clyde!

We've put in a huge effort to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. We ask you to respect the property in return. Peter and Wendy really have thought of everything! We agree 100% with all the lovely things others have said. Beautiful and serene location, interesting, quirky, ultra comfortable and so close to so many wonderful places to visit and enjoy. We want to give it 10 stars.

A perfect little get away location. So much to see and do inside the cabin itself, let alone the area. We were so well looked after, Peter and Wendy have gone to every last effort to make sure we were comfortable. You can see their thoughtfulness in everything! Definitely recommend staying.

It's very rare to find a place that makes you feel that you are 'home' , Peter + Wendy have succeeded in this area! They have created a delightful and cosy place that has you feeling spoilt! The fridge was stocked with yoghurt and milk and other treats, so out of curiosity I opened the the freezer to find Magnum ice creams waiting to be devoured, they really do think of everything to put a smile on their guests face. [in the busyness of our stay I forgot to eat my Magnum, I will be back for it] Thank you for such a peaceful and pleasant stay.

Response from Peter And Wendy:
Thanks so much for staying Brooke and a big thank you for such a lovely review. Rest assured the magnums did not go unwanted. I actually told Wendy that you ate them both but I think she suspects foul play.

We're counting down the days until we can get back to this wonderful place again for a much longer stay. Peter was so very welcoming, and the place is truly special. We we go out of our way to go back there. Thanks for looking after us!

Response from Peter And Wendy:
Thanks Nat. Agree the place is special - obviously biased but we still keep pinching ourselves when we realise what a great location we live in. More importantly, we get a real buzz out of having people enjoy it as much as we do. Thanks.

We had a great stay at Peter and Wendy's place. The spot was very convenient to Canberra for a weekend trip and easy to find following the instructions. We were impressed by the decor and the fit out of the cottage. The river is picturesque and we left feeling relaxed. The very comfy bed also helped. We would happily stay again.

Thanks for your kind review Chelsea. Love it when our guests get a chance to truly relax. Look forward to having you stay again.

We are both keen independent travellers. When travelling, we look for places in great locations that reflect the local area. Apart from travel, we enjoy going for kayaking on the Clyde River - right at our doorstep. Bushwalking in the surrounding National Parks or searching for the perfect cappuccino are other local pursuits.

We also hold the World Record for the visiting every Durras on the planet! One of our more eccentric travel journeys. Search online for the "Durras World Record" to learn more about that one!

Peter is also a licensed microlight pilot and can occasionally be seen flying over the Clyde River Cottage. He is a keen distance runner with 20 marathons under his belt. For several years, he was involved in the management of one of the worlds largest adventure travel companies which enabled him to see the world quite differently from the average traveller. White water rafting, sea kayaking, sailing, trekking and cycling were all part of the job. Peter was also a commercial hot air balloon pilot. His latest adventure involved driving an auto-rickshaw 3500 kilometres across India.

Wendy is an enthusiastic traveller. She has ridden camels in the deserts of the Sinai and India. Trekked in Nepal. Ballooned over Australia. Other countries visited include Indonesia, Poland, France, Malaysia, Thailand, Laos, Italy, Cambodia, Albania, Ireland, Greece, Myanmar, Cuba and many many more. France is her favourite though and she loves any opportunity to exchange a few sentences with like minded French travellers.

We look forward to having you stay with us and giving us the opportunity to share why love this part of Australia so much. It has taken us a lifetime to get here. Our search is over. Let us help you on your search for the perfect Airbnb.

Oh. Nearly forgot. We have a mini Schnauzer - Ellie. Very friendly and always keen for a walk (hint hint!)
