About this listing

The space

Village house with pool, sleeps min 8 persons, max 12 persons.
Large Casa Rural in Alpandeire - Sleeps 12

Ronda 15 Min
Malaga, Cadiz, Seville 90 min
Granada 120 min

Ideal for families or large groups looking for accommodation in a comfortable spacious self catering house with outside terraces, garden and pool.

The Sierra del Oreganal, birthplace of the River Genal, is one of the most beautiful places of the province of Malaga.
Below the mountain range we have the villages of Cartajima, Parauta, Júzcar, Faraján and Alpandeire.
Average population of each village is 100 to 300. This low density gives them a welcoming warmth and genuine rural charm.

From the Villages, this small mountain range rises to a height of 1,200 metres, the peak called Jarstepar climbing to 1,400 metres. Great natural walks in the countryside from the top you can see most of the villages in the Serrinia de Ronda, and on clear days, even as far as the Rock of Gibraltar and North Africa.

In this area of high ground, as far as the source of the River Genal, there are many attractive features in the landscape, with large groves of chestnut trees providing one of the most beautiful local sights, especially in Spring when in flower, and the amber colours of Autumn.

Local Chestnuts Tradition

From springtime onwards the green of the chestnut leaves starts to stand out from that of other trees, such as the almonds, cork oaks and, to a lesser extent, the olive trees. Between Parauta and Cartajima numerous hectares are under cultivation with chestnut trees. Among the chestnuts there are also a few walnut, persimmon and even strawberry trees.

In extreme, The limestone mountains called Los Riscos, provides a very different sight. This is an escarpment situated opposite the village of Cartajima. From there to Júzcar (The Blue Smurf Village), following the winding road which links the two villages, you can see some original formations sculpted by erosion out of the limestone rocks. A new carpark and walk through the Riscos mountains outside Juzcar takes about 1.5h and is truly well worth the visit.

There are other extremely beautiful spots, such as the Canaílla del Lobo y Cepo, the peak called la Hurta and the caves known as Carrión, Charcón Bajo and de la Miguela.

The village is located in a magic scenery in between the mountains. As you approach the village by car, the sinuous road will allow you to glimpse the white houses little by little as you get closer. Once you get there the overwhelming silence will catch you at the first second. The house is very central next to the main church, where, generally, there would be space to park your car. Traditional architecture, pure white facade, wooden entrance door, and in the inside, a warm and cosy atmosphere full details. Really spacious rural house for a family getaway or friends. The views of the valley are great too! Colm is a great host, who will be available to help you at any time.

What can I say about Alpandeire and Colm!!! The location is simply amazing, 20-30 mins away from Ronda, secluded little village, with amazing warm and friendly people and GREAT FOOD... Colm himself was so accommodating, easy to communicate and helpful with the overall experience. He provided detailed instructions and helpful tips on how to get to his amazing place. His place is fantastic, the pool is amazing on a hot day to just be inside and relax and get away from the city and unplug yourself. Very spacious and very equipped place to host 10 people easily. We all had such great time, we would absolutely come here again. If you are planning to be close to Ronda, I would strongly recommend to stay here in Alpandeire and visit Ronda whenever you want to. Thank you Colm!

Casa Pilar is even better than advertised. The house is spacious, clean and accommodated our party of 10 adults with ease. The pool was clean, fresh, and much bigger than it appears on the photo, as was the well-stocked kitchen and the outdoor terrace with a view on the village and the church. The house boasts a superior view on the village and the hills around it, and offers every amenity a self-catering holiday place could want, including a washing machine. Alpandeire itself is beautiful and serene, and ideally situated for hiking trips, which we made use of. The village has several bars and a grocery store with most essentials, all a short walk from the house. Colm was an extremely helpful and attentive host throughout, organizing transport from Ronda and back, as well as our shopping trip for the weekend (we didn't have a car.) Can't recommend this place enough.

what a fantastic house! Colm was warm and welcoming, he was flexible with check out time and went out of his way to get the pool ready for us in April. The house is wonderful. we were a group of 7 adults and have more than enough room. the kitchen area is great for entertaining and also plenty of space to sit outside. We would love to stay here again and cannot recommend it enough. the house was extremely clean, the kitchen was fully equipped and we even had a BBBQ in the day and lit the fire at night.

This house was a perfect get-away for three families with young children looking for a low-key get-away. Its an easy drive to Ronda and some of the other pueblos blancos. The village was so quiet, at times we felt we were the only ones there. The view of the church from the terrace was amazing, and the pool was perfect for cooling off after we explored the town. The locals were friendly, and we enjoyed visiting the tapas bar and bakery daily. Colm was friendly and responsive, and even drove over to personally check on a question we had about the oven. He even mailed back a small toy that my daughter left in the house. We highly recommend this house for a quiet country get-away.

I'm involved with Rural Accommodation is the Genal Valley, Serrinia de Ronda, Malaga, Spain since 2002, and I only came for a holiday!

The reviews below cover 2 properties we manage in 2 different villages locally, please note which house is being reviewed, to avoid confusion.

The Genal Valley is dotted with 17 Traditional White Villages (and one smurf blue), and has a unique unspoilt countryside. The micro-climate makes for mild winter and lower temperatures than other places in Spain in Summer.
Ideal for walking, mountain biking, painting holidays, and energetically doing nothing at all.
