Description

The space

A MAGNIFICENT CONTEMPORARY HOUSE, WITH UNPARALLELLED VIEWS OF THE CAMEL ESTUARY AND SURROUNDING COUNTRYSIDE. THE HOUSE SLEEPS 12 AND CAN SLEEP UP TO 16, IN 6 ENSUITE BEDROOMS. IT HAS A CEDAR HOT TUB, MEDIA ROOM AND GYM, AND A SPECIALLY DESIGNED GARDEN BY GOLD CHELSEA WINNER MARY REYNOLDS. THE HOUSE SITS BESIDE THE ESTUARY WITH ALL ITS ACTIVITIES AND PADSTOW IS NEARBY. THE HOUSE RUNS ON SOLAR PANELS, GROUND SOURCE ENERGY. THERE IS A HOUSEKEEPER WHO COMES IN DAILY.

There are many local attractions and the activities are endless. There are also some of the best restaurants in Cornwall nearby, including Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant in Padstow.

Just one minute's walk from the Camel Trail, this radically bold and beautiful eco building is all slate, wood, concrete and glass.
It is designed by Mclean Quinlan with a box-like open plan top floor and vast, uninterrupted panoramic views over the Camel Estuary. The garden is cool and curvy with nooks containing a hot-tub here or a fire-pit there, and even a swinging pumpkin seat made by Myburgh Designs. Inside everything is streamlined and uncluttered, the modern furniture, oversized and deeply comfortable - lots of creamy linen and warm oak, interrupted by a Tom Dixon candelabra or a Sophie Ryder sculpture.
Its simplicity means the house is perfect for a family seaside holiday or a grown-up house party.

We were a family ranging in age 5-87. It was a fantastic holiday enjoyed by all. The house and setting so beautiful that it works in all weathers. Sunny days on the terrace and rainy days watching the weather arriving! The kitchen is the best we had cooked in, almost a fight to cook dinner! The bedrooms are very comfortable and the bathrooms all beautifully done. Jane the housekeeper was helpful yet unobtrusive. It was reassuring to have someone close at hand to offer advice when asked. We all agreed we would like to return.

Camel Quarry House is no less than spectacular! It is an architecturally stunning home that is located a short distance from Padstow. It is literally on the edge of the the Camel Trial that is a perfect place to ride a bike into Padstow for a meal or to catch the ferry over to Rock for a day on the beach! The house has any and every amenity that you could ask for, including a hot tub that overlooks the water at sunset....something that you won't forget. It is located in Wadebridge which is a wonderfully situated town that allows you to travel Cornwall and back home with little effort. It is worth the cost...especially if you visit with friends or a large family. It was made for entertaining!! Lastly, the view from the upper floor kitchen, dining and relaxing room would be impossible to match anywhere!! A must!

Cornish in spirit, I am an artist and jewellery designer. I live and work in Notting Hill, London. I would love to live in Cornwall full-time as it's so beautiful but sadly my work and children mean that I live in London most of the time. In 2002 I built a magnificent contemporary house on the edge of the Camel Estuary near Padstow in Cornwall. It's my spiritual home.
