Interaction with guests

We will be present at check-in to help you with anything you need and you will be able to deeply experience this corner of Sicily, very well-known for its beauty and authenticity, and part of the Unesco World Heritage Sites. ‘Nest on Baroque’ is located in the former Jewish area, the most flourishing and largest in all Sicily and has remained intact in typical simplicity.

The neighbourhood

The city of Modica, once a large county, was destroyed by an earthquake in 1693 and then rebuilt in splendid Baroque style. Modica is the perfect location to visit the southeast of Sicily.

Getting around

The sea is just a 20 minutes drive away and you can easily reach the Sicilian baroque cities such as Ragusa/Ibla, only 11 km away, Scicli, 9 km away, Noto, 45 km away, close the lovely old port of Marzamemi, and the natural reserve of Vendicari with beautiful wild beaches and rocks.
Syracuse, 65 km away, is well worth a visit. Once the ancient island of Ortigia, it has a Roman amphitheater where Greek tragedies with well- known theater companies are performed in spring and summer.

Other things to note

The local folklore is very interesting and during religious events, processions with statues of saints, Christ, and the Virgin Mary are carried by the people running in the streets of the city in a blaze of crowds.
Today Modica is a small and quiet town. Totally safe. it offers, in addition to the architectural beauty of its streets, a sophisticated cuisine based on the past Arabic and Spanish occupations and is also known for the unusual and rich pastries and its unique chocolate, famous all over the world.
