About this listing
Our little house is older and has that old house character and charm without being fancy. It has all the essentials but is still being improved and tweaked every chance we get. It offers lots of comfort and security in a wonderful neighborhood full of our friends. It's close to mass transit as well as major roads into downtown, if you like. Be a tourist or hang out and go for walks, sit on the porch, just chill out, whatever makes you happy. Enjoy.
Just as you are unlikely to welcome a masked stranger into your home, I'm not, either. PLEASE complete the ID VERIFICATION in your Airbnb profile and, preferably, provide some bio information there too. Your initial message should say a little about your reason for visiting and who else will be staying. I don't need to get too personal but I am opening up our home to you and would like to feel good about it when I do. Thanks in advance.
The house is not a "tiny" one but it is cozy. There are three bedrooms that each has a queen size bed. Our one bathroom has recently been nearly gutted and completely rebuilt. The new bath and shower surround is pretty unique with corrugated metal and cedar trim work. There is a good sized living room, dining room, mud room (aka laundry room). The kitchen is not huge but is very well appointed: gas stove, microwave, coffee maker, full size refrigerator, pots and pans, and even some nice bakeware if you want to make cookies or pies. Bonus: we have a tankless water heater so multiple showers in a row are not a problem. Yay!
There is a TV with streaming capabilities (no cable) and DVD player with lots of titles on hand to choose from.
Grab a book and a glass of wine and go sit on the porch like in the olden days!
The front porch is wonderful for hanging out and enjoying moderate temperatures when we get them. Lots of neighbors walk past with or without their dogs and wave hello.
The backyard is fenced and very private. There is a large deck out the backdoor that needs a facelift but is functional and safe. It includes a gas grill for cooking out. We also have put in a few food garden beds in both the front and back yards so we may be tending to those periodically. The trade off is that you could get a home grown tomato!
The entire house is yours to use and enjoy during your stay. You are the only guests and we live next door.
Interaction with guests
We live just next door so it's no problem to respond to guests if/when needed. We are happy to make recommendations for restaurants or help you find a service you might be needing during your stay. Mostly, we let you choose how much input you want or need from us.
Other things to note
We do like to be conscious of our energy and water consumption which means little things like having a tankless water heater and not having a dishwasher. That's how we like things.
Just a few simple ones:
Please no smoking in the house. The front porch is great for it, though.
No visitors without prior approval; AirBnb guests only.
No parties or events or other gatherings of people that aren't current AirBnb guests.
Utility rates can be high in our city so we ask that you be conscious of that if you're going to be gone most of the day or can otherwise be conservative.
Please, absolutely no pets.
Always be considerate of the neighbors, please.

I'm a "Handy Jan" or "Jan of All Trades" as far as vocation. I tend to travel mostly to visit family and attend the never-ending weddings they keep having (large family) and love the variety and home-like feeling of the AirBnB locations I've experienced. I've managed a couple of AirBnb houses for a friend for a couple of years and am now (Nov 2015) offering our little house up for hosting. With any luck, it will help us to afford more trips of our own in the future
