About this listing
Featured on the Fall 2015 Portland Build Small Live Large ADU Tour, this newly constructed guest house has full kitchen, washer/dryer, parking space, high ceilings, queen beds and lots of high windows giving lovely natural light.
"A Piece of Paradise". Guests can be fully independent when staying in the Modern Harmony & Happiness House. This two bedroom "ADU" or guesthouse is bright and airy and boasts a full kitchen with large refrigerator, stove, and full-size washer and dryer. It is a completely separate and self-contained unit from the main house. Cork floors, a full kitchen, and beautifully tiled bathrooms. Both of the two bedrooms have their own separate bathrooms for privacy. Wireless internet available. Three heaters and sunshine as available will keep you toasty warm. Air conditioning in the main room and ceiling fans in the bedrooms. Seeing is believing! For a few short months, the main house will also be available for rent. This listing is under the "Tranquility House" and does have to be booked separately. The "Tranquility House" is a two bedroom home with a large deck off the back.
The full "ADU" or cottage is yours and private during your stay. You have access to the full interior, adjacent parking spaces, fenced yard, back deck, fire pit, enclosed porch area, and covered swinging bench. You are also invited to explore the meditation labyrinth in the backyard of the main house.
We do have an electronic key pad for access to unit.
Interaction with guests
I live next door in the main house. Both residences are private and separate. As I am often not available to answer questions, I have someone local helping me manage the Airbnb. They are standing by to answer questions via cell or texts...arrangements can be made to have someone meet you at the unit.
This home is located 15 Minutes from the PDX Airport in an eastside residential neighborhood about 30 minutes from downtown, and one hour from Mt. Hood. A short distance away is a community walking trail at the Glendoveer Golf Course.
The MAX line is about 6 blocks away at Burnside and 148th or 162nd. Buses run on Glisan hourly and Halsey more frequently. There is a parking space at the house, another along the driveway, and easy parking in front on the street. If you drive, be sure to mind the big BUMP on the entrance to the driveway, a necessity to prevent flash flooding during those Oregon cloud bursts.

Retired from education, I am friendly, creative, helpful and have traveled enough to get a sense of what will help make a traveler comfortable. My style of travel has been researching to find out-of-the way places that require interactions with locals. Finding our way to an ancient fortress just outside of Istanbul was an incredible, memorable experience with my son and friend! I enjoy helping visitors to Portland also find out-of-the-way unique beautiful places, and have suggestions about favorite eating spots.
