The space
The Mighty Oak is a 62ft long narrowboat, moored on the Llangollen canal. Her layout is, from the Stern (back) - Two single beds, bathroom with shower and toilet, fixed double bed, bathroom with shower and toilet, galley (kitchen) opening into the dinette area. From the galley to the bow (front) she is open plan and through-out the boat there is a massive 6'7" head clearance for those with a better view than most! The dinette area has an L shaped seating area which pulls out to form another double bed, so in total she can sleep 6. There are two wide wardrobes both with two shelves at the bottom and two smaller shelves to one side, for those little things. At night the doors of these wardrobes can be opened and latched in place so they become 'privacy doors' giving you privacy for when it's bed time!
The galley has a full size, undercounter fridge, a Butler sink and a 3/4 size free standing cooker, with oven and grill. There are plenty of cupboards for provisions and crockery and cutlery all ready, in fact you can step into the galley and cook anything you fancy, it is fully kitted out! The kettle is stove top and there's even a 4 slice toaster.
There is WiFi onboard, although I will say this runs on Mobile Data so if this drops out so does the WiFi I'm afraid so don't expect it to be a good as at home ... I'd rather tell you that now! Fear not though there is a great tv ariel and a smart TV so you can easily get more stations than you'll need. I also keep a selection of DVDs on board, an eclectic mix :o) There's a Blue Tooth speak too, along with a choice of candles and low lighting, big fan of it here!
In the bathrooms the washbasins are actually carved out River Boulders, I found them online and they are amazing, love them. You have a stand in shower, the forward bathroom has a slightly higher head room than the rear one too. The toilets are macerators so there's no emptying of cassettes to worry about either. I will add more as it comes to mind ...
On the Stern Deck there is seating and you can also use the fold up chairs so, weather permitting' you can sit outside and watch the boats pass by - There are also two smaller seats at the Bow of the boat.
