This is our first time in Rome. Federico’s welcome was the perfect way to begin our adventure. I had some problems communicating with him upon arrival because my phone decided to stop working as soon as we reached Roma Termini. Once we got in touch with him, everything fell into place. Federico waited for us near the taxi stand. He actually recognized me from my photo and waved us down so that we know we had reached his apartment. Then he wheeled my luggage to the apartment, which was only a block away. He even carried it up a few steps into our apartment, where a welcome gift was waiting for us. What a host!
The apartment itself is big, considering that it’s in the historic area of Rome. The entire apartment was very clean. The bed is a foam bed and it is SUPER comfortable. The wifi was fast, but I couldn’t get connection in the bedroom, which is not a problem for us. We only slept in there. Federico provided lots of clean towels, and shampoo/body wash. There wasn’t any hair conditioner, but I knew that ahead of time from previous reviews, so I brought some with me. The kitchen is well-stocked with plates, cups, pots & pans, utensils, etc. If you need coffee, milk, sugar, etc, the supermarket is within a 5-minute walk. There’s a coffee machine in the kitchen, as well as, a stovetop espresso machine. The apartment didn't have a tea kettle, but Federico had already told me so and I had brought one with me for my all-necessary tea. The kitchen has a stovetop, oven and microwave. Seriously, the apartment has everything. There’s even a safe in the apartment!
The apartment is located in a very central location. All the must-see places are within walking distances. If you have super early tours, like us, and need to take a taxi to save time, the taxi stand is just a minute or 2 away from the apartment. We walked 50+ miles in the 6 days we stayed in the apartment, which meant that we could eat all the wonderful foods in the area without guilt! Oh, and the gelato store right beneath the apartment has the best gelato (and we have tried several!). And if you’re craving for McDonald’s, there’s one a few minutes away!
Whether you enjoy walking or prefer taxis while visiting Rome, this is the perfect apartment to stay in. However, note that since it's an old building, there are no elevators for those who are unable to walk up the 15-20 steps of stairs. The apartment is on the first floor, which means the 2nd floor in the U.S. Also, check out Federico’s guidebook. It has attractions, restaurants, shopping, etc. We found that very useful during our stay. Federico is very responsive when it comes to communications. His apartment really made our vacation most enjoyable. Thank you, Federico!
