Neighbourhood highlights

Downtown oakland historic spot.

Old Oakland is a historic district in downtown Oakland, California. The area is located on the northwest side of Broadway, between the City Center complex and the Jack London Square district, and across Broadway from Chinatown.

The Old Oakland district was the "original" downtown Oakland during the 1860s after Central Pacific Railroad constructed a terminus on 7th Street.

In its early days, the Oakland Tribune rented a small office on 9th Street. A sign for the Tribune office can still be seen hanging outside the building today (2007). A farmer's market is also held every Friday on the same stretch of 9th Street.

There are plenty of new bars and restaurants within walking distance. We usually walk to a close restaurant or bar for date nights!

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Oakland is the second largest city in the San
Francisco BAY AREA, and the eighth-largest city in California. With any major populated city there will be trash, graffiti, and homeless people close by. This is a common occurrence in many major cities across the country, especially in Oakland and San Francisco.

Some guests may consider that terrible or undesirable. Please understand that those are things we cannot control. This is just how life is like in a big city. Rest assured with the police station a 2 minute drive down 7th st, this is as safe a place in Oakland as you can find.

Please rate us fairly on accuracy of pictures, description of space and cleanliness of room and building, and not unfairly just on location as we have no control over that.
