Two-bedroomed all-equiped self-catering house, plus two-single room self-contained cottages, located on the island of Macaneta, 30 km North of Maputo. Located in the semi-wilderness, 400 m from the beach, 500 m from some bars and restaurants. A 4WD is not necessary to reach the house, except in extreme weather. You may need one to move around to some locations though.

The space
The main house is a self-catering wooden house, build in 2014, with two bedrooms, a fully equiped kitchen, and a large living-room. There is an inside bathroom with toilet and shower. Water is constant, it comes from a well. A large shared bathroom has hot water. The other bathrooms only have cold water, which is actually an issue only in winter (June to August). Electricity is usually not a problem, but power cuts occasionally occur. There is a large deck overlooking the wilderness, and a large braai area with outside kitchen. The house is set on a large plot (2500 m2) with out-buildings that can accommodate more guests if necessary (two self-contained local material cottages). Part of the plot is landscaped, part is volontarily left wild. the whole plot is securely fenced for your security, with inside parking space. Possibility to put up tents if necessary.
A manager is present off-site, and can respond to all your requirements without impeding on your privacy.
Obviously, there is no cable Wi-Fi, but you can get decent 4G connection on the Vodacom network. We can provide you with a WiFi box and load it for you at your request at the network provider nominal fee.

Guest access
Every part of the house, and the plot and garden, is accessible. You may use all the house equipment, braai area, and the basics such as oil, vinegar, sugar, salt, and basic cleaning and bathroom stuff.

Other things to note
Please use the air-conditioner sparingly, and ALWAYS with windows and doors closed. Switch it off when out. Electricity is VERY expensive. There are basic shops on the island, you will never die of hunger, but you will be better off bringing your supply from SA, or Maputo, or at least Marracuene. There is now a bridge, so transiting to and fro with the mainland is much easier, and there is good shopping possibilities in Marracuene, except for meat (just one "local" butchery). Fish and other seafood is however plentiful.

Where you’ll be

Macaneta Beach, Marracuene, Mozambique

You are in the bush! Next to the road, 10 min by foot to the beach, there is a bar 500 m away, and a few restaurants in some resorts in the vicinity, but you are unlikely to see anyone close to the house. Great view of the wilderness from the deck. No safety problems ever encountered in the area, neither from humans or animals. There are some vervet monkeys around, but they have never approached the house so far, and the usual small bush animals (mainly rodents, and sometimes small bats), generally not too many insects, the house is high on the ground and receive strong sea-breeze.
