The whole area is built on an artificial peninsula and island, and is almost as big as Midtbyen in Trondheim. Grilstad Marina has homes, marina, restaurant (Flipper and Pizzabakern) Coop Extra which is also Sunday open and great outdoor areas with play areas and nice hiking trails (Ladestien). Bus number 1 leaves every 10 minutes to and from the city (about 20min bus ride). Short distance to the ranheim spring, the canal on the grill town and the root voll spring which are excellent bathing areas and hiking destinations.
