The space

'Burren Farm Cottages' offers accommodations in two separate self catering cottages, just 2.5 miles from the village of Kilfenora in County Clare, adjacent to the world famous Burren Region, with its spectacular landscape and rare plant life.

'The Old Farmhouse' is located on our family run dairy farm in the heart of the Irish countryside, while the other cottage, 'Green Meadows', is less than a mile from our family farm.

These self catering accommodations are suitable for people seeking peace and tranquility, but also families with children. The children are welcome to take part in milking the cows, or to collect the breakfast eggs.

The area is peaceful and relaxing, but within easy reach of a wide variety of amenities and attractions. We provide information folders and the Jim Robinson map in each cottage.

From Kilfenora, you can drive right through the heart of the Burren to the Aillwee Cave and Ballyvaughan. From there you can follow the coast road via the beaches of Fanore to the fishing village of Doolin, famous for it's traditional Irish music sessions and day trips to the Aran Islands. Not to be missed, just south of Doolin, are the Cliffs of Moher and a couple of miles on, you will arrive in Lahinch with it's beautiful beach and championship golf course. Carry on to Corofin and from there back to Kilfenora and you have never been more than 10 miles away from Kilfenora village.

If you like fishing, Lickeen Lake is nearby as is Inchiquin Lake at Corofin. And again, within a less than 10 mile radius, you have the whole Atlantic coastline to your disposal.

In the evenings you can enjoy traditional Irish music and set dancing in Kilfenora and we'll be happy to teach you a few steps, so you can join in yourself.

On arrival, you are welcomed with home baking and you are always welcome to visit our home for a cup of tea and a chat.

Looking forward to seeing you!

The Burren Farm Cottages are situated on the edge of the world famous Burren region, which is an unspoiled part of Ireland. Here in the Burren, the bare exposed limestone which is up to 780 metres in thickness, covers an area of 250 square kilometres. Great slabs of rock are almost as flat and undisturbed as they were when they were formed in the warm shallow seas of the Carboniferous ocean 340 million years ago. The Burren does not mean barren; people have settled here since Stone Age times. Evidence of their habitations and tombs are all around you.
The unusual flora of the Burren has attracted huge interest and attention over the years. Rare and spectacular plants grow in abundance throughout this unique limestone region. Unusual butterflies and moths feed on the flora and the hazel scrub. Pine forests give cover to the larger animals including Pine Marten.

Marian was a very welcoming host, offering us fresh eggs from the farm and some freshly baked scones which were very tasty! It was lovely to be in such a rural setting and watch the swallows and house martins flit past. The house is conveniently located for exploring the Burren and the local area and we went on some great walks on the limestone pavement. Thank you too for welcoming my dog, he is still recovering from all the walking!

From check-in to check-out Marian and Martin showed wonderful hospitality and made me feel so welcome. The house is a 5 minute drive from Kilfenora village and Marian very kindly met me there and guided me to the house. The house itself is lovely and cosy with the option of gas heating or there is a very welcoming turf fire. Marian had freshly baked scones waiting for me which were greatly appreciated after a long drive. If you like farm animals you will love this place as it is right on the family farm with cows and calves and their lovely farm dog who usually pops around to the house to say hello. Marian and Martin are always around for a chat and they are so accommodating if you need anything. Thank you both again for my stay, I will be sure to return in the near future!

This is a little gem in a beautiful location ideal for accessing all the local attractions. Our 2 daughters age 12 and 10 had a brilliant stay and even got to milk the cows. Martin and Marian made us very welcome with home made bread and fresh eggs and this definitely wont be our last visit. We brought our puppy who immediately found a friend in Tip and the pair were almost inseperable for the majority of our stay. I would highly recommend this beautiful cottage for anyone visiting this beautiful county.

Marian and Martin represent Irish hospitality at its best. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, they went out of their way to make us feel welcomed. Our two families have small children, and Marian and Martin took time out of their busy schedule to show all of us the dairy farm. They let the children milk cows, ride in the tractor, and visit the garden to help create a memorable experience in the Irish countryside. We cannot recommend this place enough. The house was clean and extremely spacious. It's great for two families... both of our families are two adults and two children. Kilfenora is a great town with a lively nightlife. Linane's pub has traditional music on Wednesdays and Vaughan's across the street has Irish set dancing on Sundays. The town is also close to Doolin, the Cliffs of Moher, and ferries to the Aran Islands.
