Description

The space

Experience the life of a local in cool and close-in South Austin neighborhood. Super convenient location with easy access to everything you want to see and do in Austin. Lots of room to rest and relax after busy day seeing the sites or meetings. Comfortable and clean. Private and secure.

Guest access

You will have the front part of the house, which includes dining room, bedroom, sitting room/office and full bath. We'll share the kitchen which is right in the middle. The front door will be your entrance and I will come and go through the back. You are welcome to enjoy the entire yard and can access front, back and yard through front door and fence gates.

Interaction with guests

The kitchen is our shared space and where our paths will most likely cross. I often work from home and spend a lot of time tending to my yard. My morning routine is to make coffee and read the newspaper, which I am happy to share with you. I am usually in for the night by 10 pm and you may see me watching TV in the living room in the evenings (back part of house). I am available anytime by text. I welcome the chance to be a resource and respond to your questions about Austin.

The neighbourhood

One of the things that makes Austin special is its strong neighborhood culture. I live in South Austin, which to locals means south of the river (AKA Lady Bird Lake). It is the part of town that is known to be laid back, diverse, authentic and most representative of Austin in the sixties and seventies. Barton Springs, Zilker Park, Broken Spoke, South Congress are all part of the South Austin scene.

My neighborhood is called Southwood and is an eclectic blend original homeowners and transplants seeking the South Austin vibe. Out the front window you will see a steady stream of walkers, runners, people on bikes and skateboards. Chickens and even a few goats live in many backyards throughout the neighborhood.

Getting around

#5 Woodrow/South 5th Cap Metro bus route (stop one block) goes downtown. Stop for #3 Burnet/Manchaca Cap Metro bus is .46 miles and it goes downtown via Lamar. Ride sharing and Car2Go available. Sidewalks and bike lanes along street. Off street parking for one car.

Other things to note

I have an Operating License issued by the City of Austin. The license type is Short Term Rental Type 1-A and license number is OL.

Great place, great value, great host!! My son and I stayed with Marion on a trip to COTA for the Moto GP race weekend. With a rental car it couldn't have been more convenient. Marion had the sitting room sleeper sofa made up into a bed for my son on are arrival. The front bathroom is just for her guests and she has thoughtfully provided everything you need. Marion is a delightful and interesting host but not intrusive in any way! Delightful stay. Will definitely come back if I am in Austin again.

If you want to stay away from the fast pace of downtown Austin, but still be close enough to drive everywhere, this is a charming home in a quaint neighborhood.

Marion's guest bathroom was very well stocked in case you forget anything! And she has a warm disposition that puts you at ease.
