About this listing

Private room in a lovely apartment. Steps from the B/C lines and the crosstown bus. 3 stops to midtown, half a block from Central park, 1 block from the Natural History Museum. Steps from shops & restaurants all in a quiet, safe neighborhood!

The space

My hubby and I have a room in our apartment that we rent on a temporary basis to actors, travelers, etc. that are in the city. He travels a lot, so you would mostly be sharing with me and our little beagle. Many times you will even have the place to yourself because I will go visit him (and take the pup with me) In the past we have rented to singers, businessmen, students, tourists, and even New Yorkers between leases!

Room: The room is fully furnished including a double bed (sleeps 2), sheets, towels, AC, wireless internet, your own TV with tons of cable, desk, closet, storage armoire, hair dryer, iron, and laundry in the building (basement). We are in a brownstone on the third floor (walk-up) There IS a door and a window (we get this question a lot) in your room. You will share the bathroom with me.

Location: We are located one block from the B/C subway lines, the M79 crosstown Bus, the Natural History Museum, and Central Park, as well as tons of shops and eateries. Turn left out of the building, and you are half a block from a Starbucks, turn right out of the building, and you are half a block from the train! It is a beautiful, quiet block with easy access to transportation, shopping and bars/restaurants. The location is excellent!

You will also have access to the public areas including the kitchen if you'd like to store snacks in the refrigerator, and bathroom. I also have a beautiful full sized Yamaha keyboard you may use if you are a musician.

Please feel free to email with any questions or request dates!

Great location, seconds from Central Park. Small but cosy room, we did not get to talk a lot to the hosts but they were very respectful (turned the TV off when we went to bed). Easy check-in and departure. Very quiet room and the bed is quite good, we slept very well. Tips: the cookies at Levain are worth the wait. The cake truffles at Momofuku Milk Bar are also great. Be wary of the B line which does not run on week-ends or late night.

We checked in super early in the morning and Jennifer was there for us. Worth the price. Especially, location is great!

The apt is really like photos and everything works perfectly. The apartment is very near the subway and Central Park and a lot of restaurants, pharmacy and supermarket. Jennifer and her husband were very kind and help us with any problem. I really recommend her apt.

This place is the absolute perfect spot to stay in when visiting New York. Across the street from Central Park, close to shops, restaurants, and public transit. A bit quieter from all the noise of lower Manhattan but close enough to walk and enjoy everything that New York has to offer.

It was our first time in New York and we really enjoyed the stay at Jennifer and Harlan's place. They're very nice people. We loved the quietness of the place to begin the day relaxed and to escape the high pace of the center when coming back to the apartment (we were here end of December). Central Park and the metro are very close. The apartment is cozy and the bedroom is big enough. The bathroom is a bit dated but it's clean and the shower's pressure is great.

Both, Harlan and Jennifer are great host, they made their home feel warm and cozy. Never felt like odd and the location is amazing. They also had the cutest teddy bears on top of your bed :)

I am an actress/singer/dancer living on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. My husband is a Broadway actor who tours the country a lot, and we have a spare room in our apartment we rent out from time to time.

We love to travel, EAT, sing, dance, and see amazing art and theater. We are both very active and spend a lot of time dancing or at the gym.

NYC is the best adventure we have ever enjoyed. I've been here 11 years in August. I hope you love it as much as we do!
