We spent a week here and spent over $10k on this place to have beach front access and a comfortable place to sleep and stay for a family reunion of 10 people. The location was great but there is no a/c as listed in the promo, which would've been fine if there were a way to cool down the living room space with a cross breeze, but sadly the beautiful windows at the front of the home do not open, therefore on those hot and humid Hawaii summer days, it is hot and humid in the house (even with a standing fan and ceiling fan in every room). Not only that, but we had pest issues. Finding cockroaches in the kitchen floors was not a big deal, but finding groups of cockroaches in the utensil drawers and pots and pans was very disgusting and a true cleanliness issue. Plus, we found a mouse in one of the restrooms one morning, which took 3 men to catch and release outside. Basically, when spending $10k on a place, you expect to feel clean and comfortable but that was not achieved indoors. On another note, the beach was amazing. It was a very nice swimming beach and we really enjoyed ourselves in the outdoor patio space, the air conditioned game room, the big grassy lawn, and the beach for most of our time. We also liked the location and its closeness to North Shore for snorkeling, the Polynesian Cultural Center, and the grocery stores.

This is by far one of the best Airbnb's I've stayed at on the North Shore. For context, I've stated at over 10, as I vacation here a lot. This trip was a company retreat I had brought my team in for. The house is really spacious with an open floor plan. Plenty of bedrooms & bathrooms, all very comfortable. The master bedroom is enormous with wall to ceiling windows facing the ocean. Most mornings I was on the sand by 6:30a to watch the sunrise, but twice I watched from the master with my coffee in hand. The house sits beach front on a secluded sandy bottom swimming beach. It's one of the best on the island. We swam each day, and boogie boarded occasionally. Surfing can be done about 6 minutes away at Castles. We had a problem w flies coming into the house on day 1, that was immediately taken care of by the caretaker & Shandy. The bug problem wasn't something they could have anticipated, and it was a holiday, which in Hawaii can be difficult to find someone to help. Both wasted no time to get the issue resolved quickly. They even offered to move us to another property if we were not 200% satisfied. They both checked in on us next day to ensure flies hadn't come back, which they hadn't. We had a fantastic trip. Cooked, swam in our private beach, explored other secluded beaches nearby... I will be back here with my family next in June. The house is awesome, but in my opinion Shandy is exactly the type of host you want. She wants nothing more than for you to have a wonderful time in her home.

Amanda and I have stayed at a fair few Airbnb's (and even hosted ourselves in Toronto, Canada, reaching the superhost status) while we made the most of it, this was certainly a very below average experience. We had 10 people, across two families staying together for the holidays, stay at this house for 12 nights. Sticking to the facts... The bad: 1) The house was broken into on xmas morning while we slept, resulting in wallets, rental car keys, some shoes, clothing and a camera being stolen. Some items were recovered as the thief left them about 1/2 mile down the beach. The host took approx 3 days to respond to the fact we were broken into, after numerous complaints from us about the situation they offered us $200 to help with the losses (This equates to a 0.95% discount from the booking, or put another way 10% of the value of items taken). The check-in instructions mention a security system, and there is a large sticker about a different security company on the front door (these systems are not actually functional on the property). Topping this off, the reason we were broken into was because a window was left open, ironically the window was left open because the care taker who lives next door (although we only saw them during checkin briefly and after the break-in) burnt off a bunch of garden waste which filled the house with smoke. 2) There are rodent(s) living behind the fireplace. They would eat our bananas over night if they were left out, we only saw him/her once but any food left out would get eaten without fail. 3) Insufficient toilet paper was left behind for a 12 night / 10 person stay. We bought our own. 4) Insufficient showering towels, less than 1 per person was provided. Beach towels were in good supply, but these were sandy from being used during the day and not usable for showers. 5) Lack of general beach equipment. We bought our own, but it certainly would have been nice given the proximity of the beach for this to be addresses. We left behind 3 boogie boards and some noodles, hopefully the next guest enjoys these. 6) The house is generally in not so great condition. While it is described by others as a "mansion" I would have to disagree. The pictures make it look much nicer than it really is. We encountered a broken and very mouldy dishwasher, generally dirty floor and found the house to have very old and dated fittings. It feels like an income property that is given the absolute minimum in care. You'll find the exterior very rusty (normal for beach houses), light switches that do nothing, the exhaust fans in the bathrooms do not work and many lightbulbs are burnt out throughout the house. 7) The house is located right next to a highway. While I didn't notice it because we slept closest to the beach, those who did sleep at...

Couldn't get access to game room until late in afternoon. Wasn't clear we would be sharing some amenity.

The house is big and clean, ideal for families. It is close by the beach and has a big lawn. My family had fun there. I would definitely go back again!
