The location of this place is great and the hosts are very nice. The place is spacious and well-stocked. Several reviewers have discussed the noise, so I won't comment on that except to agree that earplugs are a must if you're a light sleeper like me. The place could have been cleaner, and the openness made for a number and variety of bug visitors that was daunting even for this camper/backpacker, especially at night in the bedroom. My experience was positive overall, but in my opinion, a few small improvements are in order.

The place is as described. The windows are just screens, but for the location, it was perfect for allowing the breeze and air in and out. The house is a little removed; if you are looking to be in walking distance to anything this isn't the place for you. But it is perfect for getting away and disconnected from the "real world" (no cell service). This is the perfect house to stay at for making your way over to Uncle Robert's on Wednesday nights though! What a fun place! Overall, it was exactly what we needed for our trip and we would stay again. The neighbor, Joe, is very pleasant and helpful if you have any question or concerns. He recommended a couple local places that were very relaxing and enjoyable, such as the warming pool down the road. Overall, we enjoyed our experience and Tamara's place was a great place to stay.

We had a great time in Big Island. We stayed for 10 days and wanted a quiet vacation away from the crowds. Tamara's place was absolutely perfect. the neighborhood was quiet and we loved listening to the jungle sounds at night as well as the rain. The kitchen was very nicely equipped which was perfect as we ate breakfast and cooked dinner at the house. We had a great and relaxing time and would definitely come back and stay at Tamara's place.

We loved our stay at Tamara's jungle house in the trees! It is definitely a hidden gem on the Big Island. Things we loved: - very spacious - screen windows allowed nice breeze to go through the apartment, making it cool and comfortable on the hottest and most humid days - nestled in a warm and welcoming local community (nice neighbors of both human and animal form - especially the geckos!) - great kitchen space (fridge, stove, cooking supplies) as well as tons of local farms nearby to get local food and cook! - great wifi - loved that it encouraged eco-friendly lodging (composting, recycling) Some slight inconveniences: - Location: Although part of its charm, this apartment is far away from many things on the Big Island. - There are two things that are in 'walking' distance (Kalani Eco-Resort - 30min walk; Nearest Beach - 25 min walk). - The other closest destinations (Kapoho tide pools, Uncle Robert's, Pahoa, Lava Flow Trial start) are at least 20-30min away by car. - The airbnb is approx 1 hr from Hilo, and then add another 1-2 hours to other island destinations (Volcano national park, Kona, Waipoo Valley, etc). - Of course it's hard to avoid long drives on the Big Island - but in hindsight, if we had known about just how long the driving would be, we might have booked just 4-5 days at this location and then moved to a more central location (Hilo) or reserved more days on the Kona side of the island.

Quiet, tucked away house deep on the east side of the island. Perfect place if you're looking for something in a more jungle area away from the city. In a central location for amazing hiking locations. Had a full kitchen and was way nicer and way bigger than the pictures made it seem. Definitely a steal on the island.

The place is well described and very comfortable. We enjoyed the open air feel of the house and the quietness of the neighborhood in the evenings. We were very thankful that you had a crock pot for us to use as well as all the gadgets necessary to prepare meals. The location was wonderful to Kalapana, Kapoho, the warm pond and Uncle Roberts. Thanks for the stay!
