Connell's Barn is a beautiful stone building dating back to the 17th Century and was in existence during the famous Battle of the Boyne in 1690. The Barn has recently undergone an extensive renovation and has been converted into a truly unique home. It is ideally located for visiting the many historical sites in the beautiful Boyne Valley, as well Dublin city and Belfast. It's only a short drive to New Grange, Battle of the Boyne, Hill of Slane, Millmount and many more amazing sites...

We stayed at the barn for a few days. Fabulous base for exploring. Accommodation was beautiful and Karla extremely helpful. Clean, spacious and all round great stay. Highly recommend the barn to stay for a couple. We also enjoyed a great meal at the Spire. Thank Karla. ❤️

We were BLOWN AWAY by the beauty of this converted barn in Duleek. The unit was spotless, comfortable, beautiful, and inviting. You are right in the middle of the tiny town, next to a ruined abbey, a church turned restaurant (complete with a beautiful cemetery) and the only pub in town. Karla stocked her place with travel guides and directions and was an incredible, genuine person to correspond with, even going so far as to make suggestions on places to visit on our next stop in Dublin. We traveled through Galway, Ring of Kerry, and Dublin and found ourselves happiest in the tiny town of Duleek, most of it very much thanks to this beautiful home. I truly cannot recommend this place enough.

My husband and I spent 3 days at Karla's and it was absolutely lovely. Karla stayed in contact our entire trip to ensure everything was going great. Duleek is a fantastic home base to explore Meath County and the Boyne Valley and getting to Dublin to explore Trinity College (and to the airport) was convenient. Loved our stay!

Lovely house with great amenities and a minutes walk to the high street. Very spacious and well lit. Short drive to airport and Drogheda. A great location as a base to check out the surrounding area. Karla is a great host and made us feel really at home.

Great accomodation. We spent 5 nights in Duleek. Karla provided us with lots of information on the area and we had a wonderful time. She makes the best soda bread in Ireland. Highly recommended her unique "Barn". Thank you.

Karla User ProfileKarla is a superhost.

I'm a furniture designer and have a passion for cleverly designed and beautifully made furniture and objects. I hope this passion comes across in Connell Barn and House, which has been lovingly restored over the last two years. As well as designing furniture I also have a very keen interest in vernacular architecture both in Ireland and Scotland. I have worked on restoring many period properties during my career, but Connell Barn and House is the first one I actually own!

I am a very keen cook and love nothing more than cooking for my three young boys, lovely husband and extended family. I love gardening and I especially like growing vegetables and herbs.

We lived in Scotland for ten years, before moving back to Ireland in 2012. We always spent our summer holidays travelling around England and Scotland, I adore both countries for their beautiful countryside, architecture and history.

My all time favourite movie since I was a kid is Out of Africa (Robert Redford and Meryl Streep need I say more!) and my favourite Irish TV show is Dermot Bannon's Room to Improve. I love all kinds of food but my husband's fennel and butternut squash risotto is pure comfort food to me.

I live twenty minutes from Connell Barn and House, so I'll always been on hand to help out guests and answer any queries. I'm very house proud, so the Barn will be squeaky clean when you arrive!
