Welcome to Abdul Majid! It’s a beautiful, white-washed light filled house with plenty of charm (and space). Located in the quiet, residential neighborhood Cipete - just off main road Antasari with easy access to the CBD and other parts of town. Very easy access to the Kemang neighborhood with plenty of bars, restaurants and shopping.
The house itself is newly remodeled, with lots of light and air, high ceilings, and space. Lush, plant filled backyard with pool and patio and plenty of furniture, plus a barbecue.
Plenty of room for four. No parties, events or large groups.
You'll have access to the whole house. Two big bedrooms (one medium sized, one extra large) with three full bathrooms (three showers, two tubs). Four people maximum.
Flat screen television with full cable television with 5 HBO channels, DVD player and Chrome stick setup. High speed internet through First Media in all parts of the house.
Separate gym room with yoga mats, small weights and treadmill.
Interaction with guests
We will be traveling abroad, but our guard and maid can help you with anything you need. Our guard, Sartono, will be at the house 24/7. For anything you might need (help with the house, information, anything fixed, etc) Sartono and maid/cook Dina can contact us or our landlords.
Other things to note
Our 24 hour live in guard, Sartono, is on site to watch the house, call taxis, clean the yard and pool and house and help you with whatever you might need. He will also wash dishes on days the maid does not come.
Our maid and cook, Dina, comes every day from 9am to 2pm.
We're excited for you to stay, and can't wait for you to enjoy Abdul Majid. We love living here and are happy to share the space. We hope you'll treat it like your home - make yourself comfortable but also treat the space with respect. There are air conditioners in every room but they take up a massive amount of energy and are very expensive, so please do turn them off when you're not in the room. Feel free to use anything in the house, we've only locked the closets in the unused guest room that have our clothes in them. All stuff in the kitchen (food, etc) is yours to enjoy. Please feel free to have a one or two friends over for a swim, but no big parties, events or large groups. No smoking inside (feel free to smoke on the back patio or in front of the house). We also don't use shoes in the house to keep the floors clean as they do in Asia, which has kept the house free of outside pollutants (and Jakarta has plenty of them). So please do go barefoot or use inside slippers as we do - we have provided rubber flip flops.
Dina and Sartono are available to help you, but please don't ask them to do anything beyond their job descriptions as clearly laid out in the house manual. Feel free to message Uma directly with any questions or requests.
Cancel up to 5 days before your trip and get a full refund. Cancel within 5 days of your trip and the first night is non-refundable, but 50% of the cost for the remaining nights will be refunded.

I'm managing editor of Globetrotter Magazine based in Jakarta, Indonesia - always traveling or moving. Tourism makes me anxious but Airbnb has provided the perfect salve - such an easy way to go to a new (or familiar) place and just be. When traveling I tend to: wander, eat (everything), shop, cook, read, ask questions, look for music and dancing, write stories for the magazine and explore. I'm a low key guest and travel mostly with my husband or friends. As a host I try to be attentive and accommodating but as non-intrusive as possible.
I'm a multimedia journalist (always looking for story ideas - places and people and projects to profile!) and have worked in human rights, branding, public relations, communications, photography, social media and community organizing in West, Central and South Africa and New Haven, Connecticut (a beautiful, complex underdog of a city).
