Danu House is lovely. It has a magic about it that will leave you feeling warm and recharged. Karen is a joy to chat with and was very helpful in assisting us with planning a skellig trip and then alternate plans when the trip fell through due to bad weather. I highly suggest staying here.

Karen and Derarca are the best hosts we've ever met! We loved staying in their house. It was very clean and comfortable and we had great chats with them. The breakfast was so good! I really hope we'll once come back to the beautiful Valentia Island.

Danu House is an excellent place to stay on Valentia Island. The location is ideal if you want to make the boat trip to Skellig Michael or if you just want a peaceful get-away on a picturesque windswept island. Karen generously helped us by arranging a reservation on a Skellig bound boat a couple weeks before we left for Ireland (unfortunately the sea was too rough after a stormy day and none of the boats made the trip that day - now I have a great excuse to come back!). Karen was a thoughtful and friendly host, providing a map and ideas of things to do on little Valentia Island (definitely take the hike to Bray Head to see the tower overlooking the ocean with the Skellig Islands in the distance - gorgeous views!). We had a really tasty made from scratch and made to order hot breakfast and wonderful conversations with Karen. I would highly recommend the Danu House for visitors to Valentia Island or Portmagee.

Frankly I have been warmly welcomed by Karen and Derry in Valentia Island which was much appreciated. During those 6 days we have had lovely times together and with the other guests around the fireplace and the huge breakfast. The advises provided for dinning and visiting the main spots in the island were really accurate and fitted with my expectations. All the furnitures in the house and in the en-suite room were strictly as described. So I will be really fortunate and happy to come back as soon as I can.

Both Derarca and Karen were excellant hosts and made us very welcome. Their house is even better than listed. The neighbourhood is central to all the points of interest, and is quiet and very relaxing. From the moment of our arrival until we left it was like a home from home. These ladies have created a haven of tranquility. Highly recommended and we will return.

Located in an island village directly across from a small Catholic Church, this is a modern property with a traditional look and feel. It's clean, welcoming, and spacious, and the bed was so comfy and warm! There are nice common areas like a living room with television, a large sitting room that looks out on a peaceful garden, and the garden itself. The hostesses serve a delicious array of breakfasts and are very accommodating and interested in welcoming guests and helping them feel at home. This was my favorite place on a month-long vacation.

Quiet, hidden gem with great breakfasts! Derarca (Derry) was a fabulous host from easy communication prior to my stay through to leaving. I was welcomed with a warm smile, hearty laugh and a cup of tea; I can give no higher praise than saying that staying at Danu House felt like having a home away from home. From one of the best breakfasts I've had for a while (all locally sourced ingredients) to chats in the brilliant farmhouse kitchen, a restful few hours reading in the garden and a great night's sleep in a well-equipped, calm bedroom this magical spot guarantees you come away physically and spiritually recharged. Thanks Derry for all the tips about what to do/where to go, for a really fun, relaxing stay and for being such a generous and welcoming host. I'll definitely be returning. Note: A car is essential to get the best from your stay on this beautiful S.Kerry island and do take the Valentia ferry not just to save miles but for the sea views

We are a mother and daughter team, who feel very lucky to live in this incredible part of the world. We are widely travelled but call Valentia home.
