We absolutely loved staying at this top-notch listing. The immaculate, recently built carriage house (The Bird's Nest King Studio) is full of natural wood and light, and the property has a lovely view of horses in meadows below and the Blue Ridge Mts in the distance. Both John and Marcia couldn't have been more accommodating and friendly and were happy to answer all our questions about the building, the property (which has some nice short walks), their ducks, the food, and the gardens. The breakfasts were truly out-of-this world delicious -- Belgian waffles with fresh fruit and whipped cream one day, and a proper English breakfast the next (I even got a freshly laid poached duck egg, by request). John also provided great suggestions for places to visit en route to Asheville, including a hike at Cesar's Head and the Sierra Nevada brewery, as well as restaurant ideas in nearby Traveler's Rest. Overall, 5-stars...highly recommended!

This was a great stay! Super clean, super comfortable, super private, super views, super breakfast, super hosts! If you're looking for a great basecamp from which to explore the Upstate, this puts you smack dab in the middle of it all--a 20 minute drive in any direction gives you convenient access to wonderful mountain hikes, great restaurants, vineyards, and downtown Greenville. We had a terrific weekend and The Birds Nest was the icing on the cake!!

What a wonderful place, and breakfast was amazing. I may be surprising my wife again with a stay at the Bird's Nest.

Welcome! We met in Scotland over 38 years ago. Over the years, we’ve extensively traveled throughout Europe and Asia and experienced many cultures and gathered ideas for living and hospitality. One passion is presenting freshly crafted wholesome breakfasts on an elegant tabletop. We seek to spoil you. We have four grown children. A daughter working in finance who recently obtained her M.A. in Gastronomy. A son serving as a U.S. Army Officer married to a Veterinary Doctor. Another son who works for a global technology company and another daughter who is pursuing Early Childhood Development at a local Technical College. Our boxer dog Nutmeg enjoys her time meeting guests, her walks, napping and showing no interest in the new duck family! Safe travels, Marcia & John
