The space
A historic, rustic, one-bedroom, self-catering 'cottage' just inside Exmoor National Park with its own garden and streamside location. A bucolic, countryside setting ideal for walking, reading and relaxing by the fire...

We are happy to provide the usual comfy towels and linens. There is one long, claw foot bathtub (sorry no shower) ideal for soaking. Food such as cereals, fresh eggs, cheeses, chutneys and hampers/picnics can be arranged. As can suppers.

Please bear in mind the property is hundreds of years old. There is no central heating but radiators are throughout and the wood burner in the living room makes the place very cosy. There is an out of tune piano, library of books, maps and local information at your disposal along with a yoga deck, cottage garden (weeders welcome), picnic table.

There is also an artist's studio available upon request/arrangement.

The Hare & Hounds is
Approximately 2 miles from Williton where the closest shops are.
Closest train station: Taunton (taxis readily available).
The 28 bus runs regularly between Taunton and Williton.

We are situated on the "Coleridge Way"
From Nether Stowey on the Quantock Hills, where Coleridge lived for three years, walk: the quiet and unspoilt northern fringes of the Quantock Hills through the villages of Holford, West Quantoxhead and Bicknoller. The little known Brendon Hills through the villages of Monksilver, Roadwater and Luxborough, across Lype Hill to Wheddon Cross
the remote Exmoor moorland fringes of Dunkery Hill to the woodland village of Horner to reach Porlock, the end of your route, on the spectacular South West Coast Path.

You will travel through a variety of landscapes: heathland, moorland, deciduous & coniferous woodland, farmland, deeply wooded valleys and historic villages with expansive views over to the North Somerset Coast and Wales. Every village has at least one pub to provide you with welcome refreshment. There are also a number of delightful tea rooms and village shops to visit.

The Coleridge Way can be completed over three or four consecutive days, making it ideal for a short break. Stay for a few days and enjoy the high quality bed and breakfast accommodation along the way, all offering a friendly welcome and some providing a baggage transfer service to make your break even more relaxing.

For a longer walking holiday the Coleridge Way links up with the South West Coast Path and the West Somerset Coast Path, enabling you to walk to Lynton or Watchet, both of which have strong links with the Romantic Poets.
