Other things to note

This home was built in 1927 by Phocion S. Park. Mr. Park was a "Bailey Building and Loan," of sorts. He founded lumber, building, finance, and oil companies here in Houston while also serving as Vice President of the Commerce Bank under President Jesse H. Jones. Mr. Park is thought to be largely responsible for much of the development of Houston's oldest historic neighborhoods. Sadly, this is the only remaining structure Mr. Park built for his family; several others nearby were demolished to build apartments.
The structure is of colonial design with an unusual front wing and, typical for Houston, has a detached 2-car garage with servants quarters above.

If you plan to visit Houston museums [Fine Art museum, Mesnil collection, Contemporary art, Craft center, etc,] this is the perfect place. You can walk to all these places. For those who would like to go by bus, bus stops are not far from the house. The house is superb. Brian had done an amazing job to get this result! The neighborhood is charming and quiet. Brian and Brian are very nice hosts and Pharaoh is a dog which is well named!

The room was spacious and the bed was superb. The family was lovely and interesting. The decor feels historical and visually exciting. Thank you so much!!! We were close to everything and the time in the car was minimal.

Second stay at Brians' place. Outstanding stay. Great shower - refreshing after a long flight. Easy to get to Rice for tournaments. The stay was easy and relaxing. Highly recommend Brian's place.

There really isn't anything that could have made this stay better. Bang in the middle of a delightful, safe, historic district with many cafes and restaurants an easy stroll away, the Rothko Chapel and Menil Collection are also an easy and scenic 15min walk away, and I'm pretty sure even the cicadas and squirrels try hard to be welcoming. The house is every bit as well-maintained as you could imagine, and I think many of my friends back home are less friendly and accommodating than these hosts! They truly went out of their way to make me feel at home and thought of pretty much everything. Thank you!

I loved staying here. Brian was very welcoming and the house is very comfortable - private room with attached bathroom, coffee and breakfast set out every morning (like a proper B&B, which was unexpected), everything seemed quite luxurious actually. Brian was helpful in giving advice about good coffee shops in the area to sit and work and he and his husband were very friendly without being at all intrusive. I was in Houston to see friends and I have lived there before, so I didn't need much and they figured that out right away. It was actually a last minute decision to stay with them. I sent a message at 4am and by the time I was heading to the airport the next morning, they had approved the booking.

It's a beautiful historic place in a great location! the house itself is also beautiful. Brain is an artist, and he said that this house is one of his projects. I was fascinated by this. There are many museums and galleries around in a walkable distance.

We are a married couple, one working in retail pharmacy management and one semi-retired from chiropractic practice and teaching and now fixing up this old house and acting with the Houston Grand Opera.

We both volunteer for and/or support Houston Grand Opera, Houston Zoo, The Montrose Center, Covenant House, and Hermann Park.

We love to entertain and meet new friends.

We are perfectionists, so we keep our place clean and well maintained and look for places to stay that are the same.

Do unto others as they would have done unto them.
