This 6 years old villa with garden and pool is artistically decorated and elegantly furnished with locally handcrafted teak furniture.
It is located in a very peaceful and traditionally old residential area of Grand Baie, Mauritius Island.
The villa is set in a lush, luxuriant tropical garden with tall trees of 50 yrs old or more. Although it is in a highly residential area of Grand Baie, therefore very peaceful and zen, it is very near shops, restaurants and bars.
It is a completely detached villa with its own private garden and private swimming pool which gives the impression of a wide space well proportioned between utility and beauty. Definitely, the trees and plants add a different dimension to the property which other places do not have, since they do not enjoy the same kind of well-maintained garden.
Guests will have access to a private swimming pool with slightly salty water, free WIFI, BBQ gas grill , private parking for car, free tropical fruits when available and free range eggs.
We have quite an interesting library to which guests have access. There are numerous social games, like : Monopoly, Chess, Cards game, Scrabble etc.... and puzzles in the villa. A TV set and DVD player and local telephone are freely at their disposal.
Interaction with guests
We personally welcome all guests who come to stay at our villa La Chaulee. During their stay, we normally call to check whether everything is alright, or whether our guests need anything. We like to know a bit about our guests, so we generally chat with them and give advice when needed about what to do and see.
We offer tropical fruits that are available seasonally to our guests regularly during their stay - compliment of the owners who have a Plantation and a farm. Guests, on their arrival have a basket full of tropical fruits laid on the kitchen table. We also offer bottles of mineral water, fruit juices, tea and coffee, sugar and milk to our guest. This is to make them feel welcome and ease their fatigue, especially after a long trip from Europe and a long drive from the airport.
Other things to note
This villa has a soul and the way it has been built and furnished might remind you of Bali, Indonesia. There is a lot of wooden furniture in the house and the flooring is in teak wood. A lot of oil paintings also hang on the wall everywhere. The ceiling on the 1st floor where the 3 bedrooms are, is very high with wooden beams and wooden "faux plafond" reminiscent of the hull of a boat. The advantage of a wooden high ceiling is that it keeps the bedrooms cool in summer.
Many guests, on their first encounter with the Masters' bedroom express their suprise and marvel at its size (spacious), its beauty and the choice of furniture.
The balcony is just a wonderful space that overlooks the swimming pool and gives you the impression of living among tall trees. Deck chairs, a table and 2 chairs are there to spend moments of tranquility, peace and solitude if that's what is being sought sometimes.
Guests who have chosen our villa to stay would probably have done so because our villa meets their aspirations and requirements. I suppose they were looking for something special. I would expect my guests to appreciate the beauty of the villa and its surroundings, to respect what has been put there for their comfort and use and to enjoy the villa as their own home. No smoking in the bedrooms and other rooms. Smoking allowed under the veranda, on the balcony and around the garden.
My husband and I have a very positive outlook on life in general. We like to share precious moments with people who happen to cross our paths. My husband and I believe that it is important to make the first step to make people feel comfortable and at home when we meet them for the first time.
Our favorite passtime : walking on the beach when we have time, fine art painting, renovating ancient or damaged objects, china and pottery painting, embroidery and interior decoration.
As a host, we are very attentive primarily to our guests' comfort in the villa. They have to feel at home and happy to be there the moment they come into contact for the first time with the garden, the pool and finally the house. They have to feel embraced by the warmth, the cosiness, the elegance and serenity of the place. So many of our previous guests have expressed the same sentiment, that our house has got a soul - it is not an empty shell that accommodates solely people on the move.
Our motto in life is : Do onto others what you would have them do to you.
In other words one should treat people nicely with respect and the same treatment would be given in return.
