About this listing
This is an expansive suite overlooking the front lawns and forest. The living area is very spacious and bright with a large kitchen. The bathroom has a slipper bath with a twin occupancy shower.Access via Grand Staircase and lift. Disability access.
Our chateau has been tastefully renovated over the last year and now we are open to guests to come and enjoy the splendour of life in a castle, with all modern cons.
You'll have your own private suite - Suite L'Infant d'Espagne, on the first floor. This is a 1-bedroom suite with a bathroom, toilet and kitchen.
You also have access to the grounds - the forest, back gardens, orchard, herb garden, vegetable patch, picnic grounds, and in summer, the swimming pool and petanque court. There are some chateau bikes you can use to cycle around the village if you want.
Interaction with guests
You have access to the salon and library downstairs, to sit and meet other guests also staying at the chateau. A bar is available in this area and managed by part owners of the chateau - Michael and Jonathan.
Vernantes is our local village, one km from the chateau. We have a pharmacy, Tabac, two bars, and a wonderful restaurant in the local hotel - The Pelican - with food we can highly recommend. There is a Credit Agricole bank and ATM machine, two hair salons and a superette. We have a larger supermarket shared between our village and the next at Vernoil. We are 15 minutes drive from Saumur, our larger town on the Loire River.
It is recommended to hire a car for your stay to tour the region. You have use of the chateau bikes to head to the village for your daily pick up of baguettes and croissants and there are plenty of walking tracks in the forest and beyond. A local bus goes into Saumur a few times a week.
